Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Elena and Rude Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

About halfway through the "Mythril Mine" iconMythril Mine, in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, you will happen upon two of the Turks, "Elena" iconElena and "Rude" iconRude. After a bit of eavesdropping, you will be forced into a battle with the pair, with you locked into a party of Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith. This page will offer details on the moves Elena and Rude can use, as well as strategies on how to beat them.

You’ll run across both Elena and Rude while passing through the Mythril Mine.

All of Rude’s Attacks

The following list is all of the attacks that Rude can use during this battle in the Mythril Mine.

  • Shockwave: "Unblockable" iconUnblockable. Rude seems to use this attack more often if you continually attack him with ranged attacks while he’s blocking. He simply sends a single shockwave along the ground that slightly follows you. It’s very easy to dodge.

  • Triple Shockwave: Unblockable. A more powerful version of the above attack, where Rude sends out three shockwaves in a fan-like pattern.

  • Spirit Geyser: Unblockable. Rude will punch the ground, causing some geysers of energy to erupt underneath a single character. Keep moving, as the geysers will follow the character until they stop.

  • Atlas Stance: Part of the double-team move that he and Elena will do during the fight. He stands in front of Elena, essentially acting as a wall. Your best bet is to unleash all of your abilities, if you can, to try and break it.

(1 of 2) Rude will retaliate with Shockwave if you keep attacking him while guarding with ranged moves.

All of Elena’s Attacks

The following list is all of the attacks that Elena can do during this fight in the Mythril Mine.

  • Backflip Barrage: Elena will do some backflips, tossing out some grenades across the battlefield.

  • Stun Grenade: Elena will toss out some grenades that emit electricity when they explode, which can inflict "Stun" iconStun on whomever they hit.

  • Elena Knuckle: Unblockable. Elena does a large wind-up, then will dash forward and try to hit a character with a big punch. Considering how long it takes to come out, this is very easy to avoid.

  • Petite Powerhouse: Unblockable. Part of the double-team move that her and Rude will do at some point during the fight. Focus on Rude and try to do as much damage as possible to break it. If you don’t, then Elena will hit each of your characters with an attack that you can’t dodge, since it’s a cinematic one.

(1 of 2) Backflip Barrage has Elena launch stun grenades, as well as shoot her gun.

Elena and Rude Boss Strategy

You’re up against two enemies here, so things are a little more challenging, especially since the characters you can use are locked. You have Cloud, Tifa and Aerith, but these characters should be plenty enough to take down the two Turks. Rude will be weak to wind, while Elena will be weak to lightning, so hopefully you have both of those elements on your characters. If you wanted to concentrate on one of the two bosses, Elena would be the prime target, as she is the weaker of the two.

Rude is annoying to fight, as he does tend to block most of your attacks. If you perform melee attacks, then he will counter with ones of his own, but ranged attacks will be met with a Shockwave. You will also have to be careful with some of Elena’s attacks, since they can inflict Stun on your characters. At some point during the fight, one of the two will jump out of the field and pelt the arena with an attack, while the other Turk stays, doing their usual. Elena will use Stun "Grenade" iconGrenades if she leaves, while Rude does "Spirit" iconSpirit Surge should he go, which is similar to Spirit Geyser, without the tracking.

(1 of 3) When one of the Turks leaves the field, they will do a special attack.

At around half health for one of the two Turks, they will begin charging for a double-team attack. Rude will stay out front, using Atlas Stance, while Elena charges for Petite Powerhouse. This attack is cinematic in nature, so you won’t be able to dodge it, but it doesn’t appear to do much damage. You can break it by unleashing all of your ATB and abilities, and in doing so, pressure both of them.

Take down Elena first, as that will make things easier, especially since you won’t have to deal with her Stun Grenades. After that, it’s a matter of chipping away at Rude’s HP, until the battle is finished.
