By
Nathan Garvin

After completing the "Junon Region" iconJunon Region you should have a pretty clear idea of what to do when you reach a new open world area. The first priority is to find the region’s Chocobo Intel, wrangle a Chocobo, and use your newfound mount to fast travel and complete Excavation Intel. Not only that, but you often need each region’s unique Chocobo to access various World Intel events - you can’t get much done in the Junon Region without wrangling that region’s Chocobo, after all! This page will providing information on wrangling a Chocobo in the "Corel Region" iconCorel Region in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

How to Wrangle a Chocobo in the Corel Region

When you finally complete a long stretch of story and minigames running from the second half of Chapter 4 unabated until the start of Chapter 7, you may be all too eager to get out into the open world of the Corel region. When you do, however, you’ll quickly come to realize that the Corel region is split into two halves by a river - the northern, Costa del Sol adjacent region is relatively verdant, boasting a tropical island-like aesthetic, while the desert wastes around the "Gold Saucer" iconGold Saucer to the south is… less hospitable. Worse, you can’t cross the river separating the two regions, as some branches in the water are clearly too great an obstacle for our stalwart heroes.

Fair enough, this must be the region’s obstacle, right? Just need to wrangle a Chocobo and you’ll be birding your way across the river in no time. Alas, however, there is no Chocobo Intel event in this region, and the Chocobos native to the Corel region don’t have any special abilities whatsoever (their orange coloration notwithstanding), so even if you could wrangle one via a Chocobo Intel event they wouldn’t be your [solution to reaching south Corel].

Instead, you can get your hands on a Chocobo by simply renting one. At the start of Chapter 7 you’ll be free to leave Costa del Sol, and near the exit is a Rent-a-Bird shop that sells Rent-a-Bird Memberships for a mere 300 gil. If you’re cheap you can also just complete the side quest Rendezvous in Costa del Sol to get the membership for free. Either way, once you have a Rent-a-Bird Membership you can call a Chocobo any time in the Corel region and will unlock fast travel locations like Chocobo "Stop" iconStops. You also need Corel region Chocobos to find hidden treasure and complete Excavation Intel events. They’re also a fair bit faster than running around on foot.
