Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

All Gongaga Enemy Assess Locations for Chadley - FF7 Rebirth

By
Nathan Garvin

You know the drill - every time you enter a new region, Chadley will provide new VR battles for you, most of which have to be unlocked by defeating or Assessing enemies in said new region. Gongaga is no different, and as usual one of the standout VR battles is the one that improves your "Enemy Skill Materia" iconEnemy Skill Materia. In this case, the VR battle in question is called Biological Intel: Head Case and to unlock it you’ll need to Assess 12 different enemies in the Gongaga region. To that effect, this page will list the enemies you can assess in the Gongaga region of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and cover how to find them.

(1 of 2) In order to upgrade your Enemy Skill Materia you’ll need to Assess 14 enemies in the Gongaga region.

Once you enter Gongaga village you’ll need to complete Chapter 9’s story quest to freely explore again. (right)

Where to Find All 12 Enemies in the Gongaga Region

Gongaga is superficially similar to Corel in that the region is split into two halves, with mandatory main story progress being required before you can freely explore the southern (and larger) portion of Gongaga. Fortunately, you don’t have to do nearly as much work to gain the freedom to explore all of the Gongaga region - complete the main quest in Chapter 9 and the jungles are yours to roam. In another departure from the Corel region, Gongaga’s enemies aren’t nearly as segregated between north and south, and there are far fewer of them you need to Assess - around half, in fact.

All told this is one of the easier regions to fully Assess. The main quest enemies you’ll find are either not unique spawns, or they don’t count as native to the Gongaga region, so there’s not much that’s missable. As is the norm, all the regularly spawning enemies count, as do the rare variants you encounter as part of Fiend Intel events, and these together should be more than enough to get you the 12 enemies you need. There’s no need to bother with side quests, Confidential foes, or even all the Fiend Intel enemies, if you can’t be bothered.

With that out of the way, here are the enemies you can encounter in the Gongaga region:

Number Enemy Note
59 "Great Malboro" iconGreat Malboro Confidential Intel
101 "Grangalan" iconGrangalan
102 "Grangalan Junior" iconGrangalan Junior Spawns from "Grangalan" iconGrangalan enemies
103 "Baby Grangalan" iconBaby Grangalan Spawns from "Grangalan Junior" iconGrangalan Junior enemies
128 "Grandhorn" iconGrandhorn
129 "Grandhorn Warden" iconGrandhorn Warden Fiend Intel
130 "Savage Grandhorn" iconSavage Grandhorn Fiend Intel
131 "Gagighandi" iconGagighandi
132 "Fulvum Varanus" iconFulvum Varanus Fiend Intel
134 "Amphidex" iconAmphidex
135 "Pastel Amphidex" iconPastel Amphidex Fiend Intel
137 "Frightflower" iconFrightflower
138 "Brumeflower" iconBrumeflower Fiend Intel
141 "Chimera Mimic" iconChimera Mimic
143 "Maloceros" iconMaloceros Fiend Intel

Rare and Missable Enemy Assess in the Gongaga Region

Eight normal enemies commonly spawn around the Gongaga region, and of them, several can spawn in the northern part of the region (anything north of Gongaga village). For all intents and purposes this makes them the “easy” enemies to find in this region, as you can just roam around the northern half of the map and Assess them before you get locked into the main quest for this chapter. These enemies include the "Amphidex" iconAmphidex, "Chimera Mimic" iconChimera Mimic, and Amiphidex

Once you reach Gongaga village and get through all the chatter you’ll be forced to explore southern Gongaga as part of the chapter’s story quest. You’re not free to choose your party and go wandering off in search of World Intel events yet - and even if you were free to do so, you lack the Gongaga chocobo required to reach some of these locations. That said, you should encounter the other common Gongaga enemies during these story missions. These include the Grangalan, "Grandhorn" iconGrandhorn, and "Gagighandi" iconGagighandi.

That gets you six of the twelve enemies you need, but the "Grangalan" iconGrangalan is an odd foe that can actually get you two more Enemy Intel entries. If you damage Grangalan enemies sufficiently they’ll spawn "Grangalan Junior" iconGrangalan Junior enemies, and if these in turn are injured, they’ll spawn "Baby Grangalan" iconBaby Grangalans, both of which have their own Enemy Intel entries. Just refrain from attacking too much, deal damage slowly, waste time, and let the enemies spawn so you can Assess them. Grangalans are also somewhat uncommon, which isn’t to say they don’t respawn, but there are only several spawn spots in the entire region. Still, if you can Assess them all that’ll bring you up to eight entries.

(1 of 2) There are six Fiend Intel monsters you can Asses, most of which can be found in southern Gongaga.

Complete the main questline for Chapter 9 and when you’re free to explore again, you need to hunt down all the Fiend Intel events in the region. There are six such events around, and this should obviously be more than the four you need to reach twelve. These Fiend Intel monsters include the "Grandhorn Warden" iconGrandhorn Warden, "Savage Grandhorn" iconSavage Grandhorn, "Fulvum Varanus" iconFulvum Varanus, "Pastel Amphidex" iconPastel Amphidex, and the "Brumeflower" iconBrumeflower. If you’re a real go-getter you can also hunt down Expedition Intel events, which should unlock the Confidential Intel where you’ll find this region’s legendary monster - the "Great Malboro" iconGreat Malboro. That’s fifteen enemies you can Assess without having to rely on side quests at all, and none of them are missable, so you should have no trouble Assessing the Gongaga enemies.
