Chapter 11 of the main story in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will bring you to the Nibel Region, the final major region in the game. Once you land here and go through the introductory cutscenes, you will be free to explore the area. This region isn’t as big as the others, but you will definitely need the Chocobo here to fully explore it.
Nibel Region’s Chocobo¶
One of the first things you should do upon arriving in the Nibel Region is go after the Chocobo. You won’t have to go very far for it, either, as your feathery friend is located close to the Nibel Airstrip. You should see a gap in the canyon wall, which will lead you to the Chocobo’s grounds. Unlike the previous ones, where you went after the Chocobo itself, you will need to bring it to you in this instance.
You will be doing this by tossing some bait to lure the Chocobo ever closer to the beginning of the area. However, you need to avoid the plants that inflate and deflate, as they will scare away the bird, should it run into them, a bar will fill up. If this becomes full, then you’ll need to start over from the beginning. Once you lure the Chocobo to the beginning, you can return down the hill and approach it like all the others, taming it in the process. For more info, check out the How to Catch the Nibel Region Chocobo page.
Nibel World Intel¶
With the Chocobo now under your control, you can set off to do the World Intel in this region. There’s a good number of these that require the Chocobo, which is why it’s important to do that first.
World Intel | Number |
---|---|
Divine Intel | 3 |
Activation Intel | 4 |
Expedition Intel | 4 |
Fiend Intel | 4 |
Excavation Intel | 1 |
Moogle Intel | 1 |
Nibel Quests¶
There is only a single side quest available upon first setting foot in the Nibel Region. This side quest, called Esoteric Secrets of the Elders, will require you to wrangle the Chocobo here, so that’s another reason to do that first. It’s worth doing this quest for the reward, as the Chocobo Armband triples the AP of Materia set in the armor, despite only being able to place two.
Quest | Reward |
---|---|
Esoteric Secrets of the Elders | Chocobo Armband |
If you head upstairs in the Chocobo Sage’s Manor, you will find a chest with an Elixir inside, as well as a Level Boost Materia on the floor. Other than the Intel above, as well as the one Quest, there’s not much else to do in the Nibel Region, so it’s time to move on with the main story. That involves heading to Nibelheim, a familiar village that is found to the northeast. If you’ve found the Sage’s Manor, then head north from it to the Gjallar Bridge and follow the trail northeast.
Exploring Nibelheim¶
There’s not much to do inside the village of Nibelheim, although you can explore it if you wish. There are two Queen’s Blood players here, whom are Turner and Dale, so feel free to play them. Other than that, you can search for your other party members and have an opportunity to increase your relationship with them. Of course, this only extends to Tifa, Aerith, Barret, Yuffie and Red XIII. For more info on the best answers to give here, check out the Character Relationships page.
In order to continue with the main story, head to the inn and up to the second floor. You’ll know things are moving along by the screen getting all wonky as you head to the rooms up there. Once the scene up here is over, go to the town hall to find Cait Sith, who will be at the terminal there. Another cutscene will occur here, where your next goal is to head to the reactor. Go to the northeastern exit of the town to find your other party members.
Note that you will be locked to a party of Cloud, Tifa and Yuffie for the upcoming section and subsequent boss, so make sure everyone is outfitted with the best equipment and all of your materia are in order. When you are ready, say yes to get started on climbing Mt. Nibel and heading to the Nibelheim Reactor.
