Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Absence of a Sign Quest Walkthrough

By
Shane Williams

Absence of a Sign is a side quest that takes place in "Cosmo Canyon" iconCosmo Canyon. It’ll require you to track down three Celestial Phenomenas and photograph them. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary tips to defeat the Reapertail.

Caesar wants you to look out for the celestial phenomena

Portents of calamitous ruin have been sighted in the vale of late-dreadful fiends whose very presence heralds doom. But all is not yet lost, for in times past we have observed celestial phenomena indicative of the great mother’s triumph over such forces. We request assistance with spotting and photographing said phenomena: seek out the mentor Caesar for more information.

Starting Absence of a Sign Side Quest

The Absence of a Sign Side Quest will become available once you’ve completed the objective “Uninvited Guests” in chapter 10. After you’ve passed "Red XIII" iconRed XIII’s trial, head to the Community Noticeboard in Cosmo Canyon and accept the quest to get started. Make your way over to the Planetology Assembly and speak with Caesar, then you’ll need to track down three celestial phenomenons and photograph them.

Celestial Phenomena Locations

Your next task is to head around the Cosmo Canyon region and look for three different Celestial Phenomena and photograph them, and you can find each of them below.

Celestial Phenomena #1

(1 of 2) Head to this location on the map

Head to this location on the map (left), and take a picture of the first phenomena (right)

The first celestial phenomena can be reached by traveling to the Ancient Capital Tower and using the wind generator to the north. Upon arrival, you’ll need to take down a Reapertail and the best way to do that is by sitting back and attacking it with ice-based spells. You’ll now want to press left on the D-Pad to bring up an older image of the phenomena and then try and take a picture which matches it as close as possible. This can be done by adjusting the zoom and slightly moving the frame.

Celestial Phenomena #2

(1 of 2) Head to this location on the map

Head to this location on the map (left), and take a picture of the second phenomena (right)

The second celestial phenomena can be reached by traveling to the Cosmo Canyon Airstrip and following the narrow path to the southeast. Here you’ll need to defeat another Reapertail and snap a picture of another phenomena.

Celestial Phenomena #3

(1 of 2) Head to this location on the map

Head to this location on the map (left), and take a picture of the third phenomena. (right)

The third and final celestial phenomena can be reached by traveling to Lifespring Survey Station No.2 and heading up the hill to the southwest. Defeat one more Reapertail and snap a picture of the final phenomena.

Once you’ve captured all three areas and return to Caesar to bring the quest to a close, you’ll be rewarded with some EXP and Tarot Cards!
