Games have had different difficulty options for a long time, dating all the way back to the Atari. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, players had the option to choose between a few difficulty levels, although not all of them were unlocked from the beginning of the game. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will offer many of the same difficulty options, while adding a new one to this release.
All Difficulty Options in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth¶
The following table will detail all of the difficulty options you can choose from in the game. All information is obtained from publicly available info.
Difficulty | Description |
---|---|
Easy | Enjoy the story without having to worry about battles. |
Normal | This is the standard difficulty, where battles will be balanced. |
Dynamic | Enemy difficulty will be adjusted automatically based on your skill level. |
The first two difficulty levels are similar to Remake’s, but the Dynamic option is new. This one is introduced to allow players to continue being challenged during their playthrough of the game. It’s not too clear yet if enemies will scale along with you (like Final Fantasy VIII), or if it’s based on how well you do in the game. An example would be if you’re having trouble in an area, the next location might have slightly easier enemies for you.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Hard Mode¶
A leaked trophy list has a trophy that unlocks for completing the game on Hard Mode. Since a Hard Mode wasn’t initially listed, this might be similar to what happened in FFVII Remake. It wasn’t until after you finished the story for the first time that you unlocked Hard Mode. Unlike a lot of other games that have harder difficulties, which usually just pads the stats of their enemies, Remake mixed things up by adding newer mechanics to all of the bosses. It is highly likely that Rebirth will do the same, but this is all speculation right now.
