Starting The Stalker Task¶
To be able to access the Kuttenberg region, you’ll have to wait until you’ve progressed the main story a fair amount, indeed, it’s not until you complete the Storm quest that you’ll reach
Kuttenberg for the first time, and then you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can jump on your horse and explore this massive region.
At that point, you need to continue with the main quests until you complete Exodus, at which point Henry will decide to head back to Devil’s Den and discuss next steps with Zizka. If you’ve not already done The Devil’s Pack, you must complete it before that specific quest continues.
(1 of 2) Find Katherine after 21:00 at the Baths in Sigismund’s Camp.
Find Katherine after 21:00 at the Baths in Sigismund’s Camp. (left), Talk to her and ask what you can do for her to begin the Task. (right)
You’ll be tasked with heading into Sigismund’s Camp and finding Katherine there so you can spy on their plans for the cannon. Once you’ve settled on a course of action (you must speak to her after 21:00), you can speak to Katherine again and say “What can I do for you?”, at which point she’ll mention that she feels she’s being followed, starting the task.
Find Out Who’s Stalking Katherine¶
Fortunately, this is a very simple matter to resolve, and shouldn’t take too long to finish. You have two methods for finding out who the stalker is and putting a stop to him, and you’ll find that out below:
Wait for the Peeping Tom in the Bathhouse¶
Wait around outside Katherine’s tent for the perpetrator to make himself known, just be sure you’re not waiting inside the tent, wait a short distance away from it, but with eyes on there. Fast forward the time to between 02:00 and 03:00 and you’ll spot a man in red near the tent by the name of Chakan. Approach him from behind (to prevent him from running, which he will) and talk with him. You’ll have to pass speech checks to get him to stand down, pay him some Groschen, or beat him in an Unarmed fight.
(1 of 4) Have Mutt track the shoe Katherine gave you.
Have Mutt Track the Shoe¶
During your initial conversation with Katherine, you can ask if she still has the other shoe and if you can borrow it. This will allow you to call Mutt over and have him track the scent, thus leading you directly to Chakan’s tent where you can confront him. You’ll get the same amount of choices as the other route, pay him the 200 Groschen, or pass a speech check if you want to avoid a fight. The Speech check is a Hard difficulty check and the easiest way to avoid a fight.
Regardless of how you talk him down, return to Katherine and tell her the deed is done, handing over her shoe in the process if you have it on you. As a reward, Katherine will be available to help you later in The Lion’s Den, and you’ll also score some more points toward getting her romance scene later in the adventure.
