Starting The White Roebuck Quest¶
To be able to access the Kuttenberg region, you’ll have to wait until you’ve progressed the main story a fair amount, indeed, it’s not until you complete the Storm quest that you’ll reach
Kuttenberg for the first time, and then you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can jump on your horse and explore this massive region.
Fortunately, you won’t have to go too far to pick up this Task, as you’ll find it in the very area you should already be in, Suchdol, located to the west of the Kuttenberg region. While in the castle grounds of Suchdol, make your way out of where the arena is and go to your left (during the day) to find Huntsman Dobrosh Pecker who is looking for some assistance.
(1 of 2) You’ll be able to pick up this Task in Suchdol as soon as you can move about.

Find Out What the Knacker Knows about the Poachers¶
While you may be tempted to dive headfirst into the nearby woods to see if you can find that poachers camp, the search area is rather large, so it’s in your interest to pay a visit to the local Knacker to see if you can narrow down the location of the camp. Fortunately, you’ll find him just outside the castle, leave via the eastern entrance and head south and then east to find a house where the Knacker can usually be found, if it’s the evening, you can usually find him inside eating.
Knacker Wolfram will, initially, not be very forthcoming, but let him know that Dobrosh told you about the Knacker and you’ll get a speech check when you ask him if he knows where they’re holed up. Both You’re blamess? Then you’ll help me.“ and “I’ll put in a good word for you with the huntsman.” are Medium difficulty checks, and are what you should aim for. If your stats aren’t up to par, however, you always have the option paying 200 Groschens or looking for the camp on your own. Wolfram will also ask that you turn in the hide to him if you find it, offering more than what the Huntsman will surely pay for it.
Pass a speech check with the Knacker to narrow down the location of the poacher’s camp.
Find the White Roebuck’s Hide¶
Now that you have a better idea on where the poacher’s camp is, you can set off in search of the hide. Make your way to the forests to the northwest of Suchdol and where you meet the crossroads on the main path, go west to the end to find the camp in question. At this point, you have a two options available to you.
The first is to sneak into the camp (there are only three poachers), preferably under the cover of night, and steal the hide without any bloodshed. The alternative, and more lucrative option is to take the fight to them, either by Stealth Killing them or charing headfirst into the battle. The poachers aren’t the strongest fighters out there, so you shouldn’t have too many issues taking them down.
Once they are dealt with, be sure to loot each of them to obtain a Poacher’s squirrel tail from each of them, this will raise your rewards from the Huntsman. As for the hide itself, you’ll be able to take keys from one of the poachers, and can then open the chest in their tent (or pass a Medium
Lockpick check). With the hide in hand, you can make your triumphant return to Suchdol.
Should you hand the hide to the Knacker, you’ll obtain 225 Groschen, this is more than the default amount the Huntsman will give you 150 Groschen. However, if you managed to loot the three squirrel tails, you’ll get an extra bonus on top of that from the Huntsman (the Knacker has no use for these) which will bring the total reward from him to 450 Groschen, this is the best outcome for this quest.
