Starting The Blacksmith’s Son Side Quest

You’re gonna need to find a way to get an invitation to Semines Wedding in order to progress the main story and you can do this by either getting in Miller Kreyzl or Blacksmith Radovan good books as this will convince them to bring you along as their plus one. If you’re choosing the Blacksmith Route, then you’ll want to head over to Tachov and speak with Radovan.

Prove Yourself to The Blacksmith

Radovan wants you to see your blacksmithing skills first-hand so head over to the nearby chest and grab the Fastening Materials, Scrap Metals and Steel from inside. We also recommend revisiting this chest once every in-game day as the items inside will be restocked, so you craft more equipment and sell it on. Once you’re ready, press X/A/E to choose the item you wish to craft first.

Crafting a Hunting Sword

The first step to crafting the perfect piece of equipment is getting it boiling hot, so continuously press R2/RT/Q to build up the temperature within the furnace and then move the workpiece up and down until it’s a bright straw yellow color. Head over to the Anvil by pressing X/A/E and then you’ll want to hit the workpiece with the hammer while making sure you’re getting a big spark each time.

(1 of 2) Heat the Workpiece up until its a bright straw yellow

Heat the Workpiece up until its a bright straw yellow (left), and then hit it with the hammer and make sure there’s large sparks each time. (right)

You’ll want to avoid hitting the same spot on the workpiece as this will affect its quality so make sure you’re slightly moving the workpiece after every hit. After you’ve hit the entirety of one side of the workpiece, turn it around by pressing Square/X/F and repeat the process on the other side then once you’ve hit it enough times you’ll need to temper with it to complete the process.

The Blacksmith’s Son Quest Rewards

Head back over to Radovan and show him your perfectly crafted piece of equipment and use this opportunity ask him many questions to learn more about blacksmithing, then the quest will come to a close and you’ll be rewarded with 8x Scrap Metal, 4x Steel, 2x Fastening Material, Sketch - Farmer’s Horseshoes and Sketch - Work Axe for your troubles. Additionally, you’ll be given access to the nearby room so you can sleep and save whenever you’re in the area.
