The "Kuttenberg Tournament" iconKuttenberg Tournament is a prestigious tournament held in the perhaps self-explanatory location of "Kuttenberg" iconKuttenberg. While it’s fairly straightforward to pick up this side quest, it can be difficult to know when the tournament begins or how to start it.

How to start the Kuttenberg Tournament

Unlike most of the side quests in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the Kuttenberg Tournament is repeatable. To start it, speak with Menhard at the swordfighting guild after completing the main quest "Ars Dimicatoria" iconArs Dimicatoria and ask him about the tournament. Here, you will pay 100 "Groschen" iconGroschen for each fighting discipline you want to compete in. The tournament starts on a specific day of the week, and we recommend paying the additional Groschen required to wait in the guild until it begins. This way, you won’t miss it.

When the tournament day arrives, find the grounds in the southwest of Kuttenberg. You will automatically receive the gear you need in order to participate. You won’t use your own. Menhard’s reasoning for this is that if all participants use the same gear, the only factor affecting the outcome is skill.

When you’re fully prepared, stand in your corner - either red or yellow - and wait until the battle begins. You can choose to save here if you’re looking to dominate throughout the tournament for maximum rewards.

Fighting is as it is throughout the game, so we won’t go in-depth here. You will face different opponents depending on the disciplines you chose to compete in. The fights run on a best out of three rule, so you only need to win two to be considered the winner. If you beat two opponents in a row you’re the winner of that discipline overall.

You’ll have to wait around for the other groups to participate in their fights, but if you don’t want to do this, just skip time by one hour.

Speak to the armorer between fights if you signed up for multiple disciplines to get the relevant tournament gear. Make sure to return loaned gear before the open combat fights otherwise you’ll be landed with a hefty 500 Groschen bill. If you need to heal, take the time between fights to do so.
