Choose Some Men for a Raid and Interrogate the Prisoner with the Devil¶
While in a meeting with the group, Zizka discusses plans on how you can possibly turn the tides of this battle, with supplies waning and the Praguers thinking they have all the time in the world. Eventually, you all settle on the plan of burning the enemy camp down, a difficult endeavor that requires careful planning.
Zizka will give you two tasks at this point, choose some men to go with Dry Devil on the raid, and to interrogate one of the prisoners you caught during their night raid on Suchdol. Begin with heading out into the courtyard and finding a pair of men to send off with Dry Devil, despite his interesting methods, whoever you choose here will survive, so feel free to choose whoever you like for the job. You’ll find all of your squad scattered throughout the courtyard.
Once this is taken care of, go and find Dry Devil in the cells, you can reach them by heading to the right of the gate into the outer courtyard and finding some stairs leading down and speaking to Devil will get the interrogation under way. If you fancy your speech-related skills, you can and should attempt the interrogation without torture.
(1 of 3) Speak to someone from your unit to send on the raid with Dry Devil.
It doesn’t matter too much what you ask here, but the main information that you need from the captured Praguer is what the weaknesses of the camp are, vital for the upcoming raid. You can pass checks to learn who the commander is, and the fate of von Markvart, but once you get the vital information, you’ll finish the interrogation.
Tell Capon and the Marksmen that the Raid is Ready¶
With all of the pieces in place, you’re set to get the raid underway, so take a moment to look at your equipment, healing items (such as Marigold decoctions), and make sure you’ve eaten from the pot if you’ve not already done so. What follows shortly is a ranged battle, so if you’ve neglected your Marksmanship skill throughout your adventure, consider drinking a
Bowman’s brew to temporarily increase it (remember, you can use the
Alchemy bench still).
Once you speak to Hans up on the walls, he’ll ask if you’re ready and if you don’t have a ranged weapon equip, he’ll give you either a Bow or Crossbow depending on your choice, both of which are strong weapons for this stage of the game. Once you make your choice, the battle will finally begin as you take on your role of firing from the battlements.
To begin with, soldiers will be at the barricade straight in front of you, take aim and begin firing at them to give Dry Devil’s party a chance to start moving. Ideally you’ll have a bow here, as you can fire arrows quicker than with a Crossbow and, if you’re not accurate, the slowness of the Crossbow may cause you to get struck more. Remember the flight of your arrows and bolts, there will be drop off so aim accordingly and if you’re striking out, sit back and let Hans and the others take care of them.
(1 of 3) Hans will give you a strong Bow or Crossbow if you don’t have one equipped when speaking to him.
After the initial group of soldiers, you’ll need to deal with shooters from the right, and then eventually, enemy pavisiers, this is the last group so wait for them to come out from under the cover of their shields and finish them off to complete the raid successfully.
Give a Report to Zizka¶
It looks like everything went off without a hitch, and you’ve now given the Praguers something else to think about, slightly altering the dynamics of this battle. Go and find Zizka in the dining room to give your report, and then, after you’re done, head back to your bed and rest to advance time, completing this quest and beginning Hunger and Despair.
