Materia Prima is the first side quest on the Miller’s side, required to obtain a wedding invitation for the main quest Wedding Crashers in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Obtaining the invitation requires you to either speak with the Miller in Lower Semine, and complete his quests, or choose the alternative route by going to the Blacksmith in Tachov. Read on to find out what to expect if you decide on Miller’s quests instead.

Speak to Miller Kreyzl at the Lower Semine Mill to begin the quest.

Accepting the Quest

First thing you’ll need to do is get a tip from the Troskwitz tavern Innkeeper about some work for it to appear on the map. Once you’ve done that, follow the path southwest to reach the Lower Semine Mill. At the Lower Semine, you need to look for Miller Kreyzl, who will either be inside the house, at the bottom of the stairs in front or behind it. Tell him you’re looking for work, and naturally, before he will help you, you will need to do a menial task, as it is custom around these parts. You can also talk to him about fighting to get the Melee at the Mill Task. Note, if you tell him that you want to get into the wedding, you’ll lose some reputation with him. On the flip side, if you agree to carry the sacks without moaning about it, you’ll gain some.

(1 of 3) The Lower Semine Mill is southwest of Semine.

Carry the Sacks to the Wagon

Your task is to pick up bags of flour and place them on the wagon. The wagon is opposite the Miller’s home, and the bags of flour can be found on the floor in the building to your right, in the right room. Collect the sacks and place them on the back of the wagon and after picking up the sixth sack, you’ll get a cutscene where the bag splits, exposing small lead balls. Kreyzl will ask if you’re done, and you’ll confront him about what you found.

Once he’s realized he’s been found out, he’ll ask if you’re ready for the truth, and answer with “Yes” to gain a small reputation boost. He’ll tell you that he needs you to get him a document that is inside a chest in the Troskowitz Rathaus. The document is called “The Offer of Hermes Trismegistos” and it’ll be under lock and key as well as guarded. He promises that he’ll get you into the wedding if you help him out with this task, so agree to it, and ask him any questions related to it after, as you will get three lock picks from him.

(1 of 2) You’ll find the Wagon opposite the Miller’s place.

Learning Lockpicking and Pickpocketing

Speak to Hensel who should be somewhere nearby and follow him into the room where the sacks were, and go through the tutorials to get a better idea on how to do them. In short, for lock picking, you need a lockpick and the required skill to attempt the chest (you’ll only be able to unlock difficulties up to medium). Interact with the chest and move the orb around until it gets larger, and turns gold. Now, rotate the lock while moving the orb around and keeping it gold to unlock the chest. For Pickpocketing, get behind someone and look at the pouch on their waist.

(1 of 2) Before you go, ask Henshel to teach you Pickpocketing.

Hold the search button in until you get enough time but stop before you alert them. The indicator will flash red when they’re close to being alerted, so search for as long as possible until that occurs. When you’re inside their pocket, you need to click on the ? ‘s to find out what item it is. Once you’ve found what you’re looking for, click it, and then head to the top center to leave the pocket. You must do this before the timer runs out, otherwise they will be alerted.

Getting the Right Clothes for the Job

If you asked Kreyzl how to become harder to spot, he’ll tell you about some clothes at the Bathhouse in Troskowitz. Fast travel back to Troskowitz, head over to the Bathhouse behind the Inn and speak to the proprietor, Dorothy. Ask her about Kreyzl’s clothes, and she’ll tell you that you’ll need to pay for them to get them back. This will cost you 199 Groshen’s, which is steep at this stage of the game.

Fortunately, you can convince her to part with them, provided you can pass either the Persuasion or Impression speech check. For us, selecting the Persuasion option worked, however, depending on how you’re playing the game, your Impression stat may be higher. If you fail the checks, you’ll need to pay the full amount or find some more clothes. Once you have some clothes, create a separate outfit for them so you can switch between them whenever you want to start thieving.

(1 of 3) Ask Dorothy the Bathhouse owner about Kreyzl’s clothes.

Speak to Zinek

Now that you have the clothes, it’s time to find Zinek, who was the last person Kreyzl hired for the job. You will find him in the pillory in the center of town, near the Inn. Head over and ask him about the document. He’ll ask for a password, but there isn’t one, as he’s just joking. He’ll tell you that you can find the Rathaus behind the tavern by the fence, but you’ll need a key to get in.

You’ll find Zinek in the pillory in the center of town. Speak to him to find out about the document.

Getting the Rathaus Key

There are a few ways to get this, but the easiest way is to go to the Rathaus (if you have Mutt, leave him outside somewhere), and you’ll find Svatya Thrush leaning against the wall. Crouch behind and pickpocket him to get the key. Make sure no one is around while doing this, but he’s pretty much on his own, so you shouldn’t have any problems. We recommended saving the game before trying this, as low-level pickpocketing can be difficult at first. If you don’t find the key during the initial search, exit before the timer ends and try again.

(1 of 2) You can pickpocket the Rathaus Key from Svatya Thrush, who is outside the jail.

Getting the Document

Head back to the Rathaus Jail, stand outside of town opposite the jail, and wait until night (around midnight). Switch into your “Thievery Clothes”, drink a Nighthawk potion if you have it, and head down the stairs to the side of the jail. At the bottom of the stairs, continue forward (the door to your right will have The Strength of the Knight II skill book in the hay) into the jail to find a chest against the wall to your right, under a torch. Open it up using the key you stole earlier, and you’ll find the Offer of Hermes Trismegistus document.

Take the document, exit the way you came, and leave the town immediately. Fast Travel back to the Lower Semine Mill, sleep if it’s still night, and speak to Kreyzl in the morning. You’ll have a conversation with the Miller, but that wasn’t enough to get the wedding invitation, and you’ll have to do another job for him. This will complete the quest and reward you with 45 Groshens, With the Silence of a Cat I Skillbook, and some skill experience in Stealth and Thievery.

(1 of 3) Go down the stairs to the left of the jail and head straight forward.

That’s it for Materia Prima, but it’s worth noting that you can also get into the Rathaus Jail by going through the Scribe’s building, west of the Inn, but this will require you getting past a lot of people and the slightest noise will wake them up. We really do recommend using a Nighthawk Potion for this quest, as you won’t be able to see, and you can’t use a torch. You can purchase one from the Apothecary southwest of the Inn. To get the wedding invitation, you’ll need to complete the follow-up quest “Forbidden Fruit”.
