While cliche, treasure maps are a good way of scoring loot when you are fortunate enough to come across them. Bandits are a malevolent breed of wastrel whose habit of preying on the weak inclines them towards acts of betrayal, and if the law doesn’t get them, there’s a high chance they’ll end up turning on each other. In order to protect their treasures from each other and give themselves the ability to more freely prowl the countryside without having to haul around precious - but heavy - plunder, hiding their treasure makes good sense. Such is the case for the brigands camping near Vidlak Pond, and this page will help you find the treasure marked on the Vidlak Bandit Map in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2!
Page Breakdown¶
Finding the Vidlak Bandit Map¶
The Vidlak Bandit’s Map is, unsurprisingly, in the possession of bandits. These particular vermin can be found at their camp in the woods northwest of Tachov, but there’s no need to wander around blindly - you will encounter them during the side quest Lackey, so you might as well kill two birds (and half a dozen or so bandits) with one stone.
That said, the bandits at this camp aren’t terribly strong, but they are numerous - expect about five of them, some of which will be armed with ranged weapons, and at least one will be reasonably well-armored and bearing a shield. This armored bandit is their leader, and he’s the one who will drop the Vidlak Bandit’s Map… along with some keys if you want to loot the camp without picking locks. While it can be a rough fight early on if you just rush in, their camp is spread out just enough that it may be possible to pick some bandits off via sniping or stealth takedowns.

Find the Vidlak Bandit’s Map Treasure¶
Once you have the Vidlak Bandit’s Map, take a gander at it and note it indicates a camp near a stream that bisects another stream near a larger body of water, near which are two roads that cross each other. The roads are something of a red herring, as the road running near the camp isn’t visible on your in-menu map… but it exists, you’ll follow Pepik’s trail along this roads to reach the camp during the aforementioned side quest Lackey. The waterways are easier to identify, however, as there’s a stream that runs northwest from the bandit camp, ultimately crossing another stream which in turn flows southwest into a pond. The Vidlak Bandit’s Map’s perspective is simply not aligned with your menu map.
Other than the camp, water and roads, the map only indicates one other point of interest - a tree near where the streams meet. From the bandit camp, follow the stream northwest until you find where the streams meet - this will be just south, southwest from Vostatek’s camp. When you arrive, search for a tree, but unlike what the map indicates you’re looking for a large, toppled tree now lying in the stream. This will be marked on your map as the “Hollow Tree” when you find it, so there should be no mistaking it.
Seems nature has played a little prank on all of us, as the treasure is no longer here - but if the weather is strong enough to fell such a tree, perhaps it can wash away treasure, too? In any event, no treasure is readily apparent, so follow the new stream southwest towards the pond. Stick to the northwestern coast and when the waterway expands into a shallow, stagnant pond, search the reeds to find a partially submerged chest hidden among them. This will be marked on your map as the “Washed-up Chest”, so you’ll know when you find it.

Finding the chest is one thing, but to open it you’ll need to pick the lock (hard). Thievery proves to be a skill well worth having, as opening the chest will score you various treasures, including (in our experience) 300~ groschen, a golden crucifix (worth a whopping 1400 groschen!) and some minor baubles. Not bad for a bit of swamp-slogging!
