Lent Trophy Guide

There are two achievements that will likely give players pause when they consider whether it’s worth their time to try and unlock all the achievements in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2; Been There, Done That and Lent. The former is your standard “do all the quests” achievement, but the latter requires Henry to be especially mindful of animals by not killing or eating any. While daunting, with the help of this guide you’ll learn how to manage Henry’s baser instincts and unlock this achievement!

Page Breakdown

Checking Meat Eaten and Animals Killed Stats

To unlock the “Lent” achievement, you need to refrain from eating meat and from killing animals, which may seem daunting at first. In reality, however, accomplishing this achievement merely comes down to checking two stats: go into the “Player” tab in the menu, go to the “Statistics” category then look under “General” to find the “Meat eaten” stat and check the “Combat” stat to find “Animals killed” stat. Both of these must remain at 0 the entire game. That’s it. You will know you messed up if these stats increment, and you just need to make saves regularly and ensure these stats stay at zero. As for actually avoiding eating meat and killing animals, check out the info below.

Avoiding Eating Meat

At a glance, this might seem like the more difficult of the two conditions to fill - you must refrain from eating any meat, including fish, chicken, pork, boar, beef, venison and more. This is a shame, as hunting is a good way to get food - a single butchered boar can get you 40+ pieces of meat that, when dried, last indefinitely and can provide Henry nourishment for days. There’s no non-meat equivalent in the wild, no wild herds of bread wandering about, so this functionally crosses most of the food you can hunt or buy off the menu.

Fortunately even with so much food off the table, food is still abundant in this game. You can always buy fruit, cheese and bread (dried cheese is the MVP for non-meat, high nourishment food you can lug around), but best of all, the stew pots at inns do not count as meat, no matter what color they are. Spend 120~ groschen at the "Zhelejov" iconZhelejov Wagoners’ Inn and 50~ groschen at "Tachov" iconTachov and you’ll have two stew pots you can eat from. The food they offer is finite, but it replenishes but travelling between the two should be enough to keep Henry fat and happy throughout all of Trosky, and buying beds in "Kuttenberg" iconKuttenberg can achieve the same results.

Also, while Henry can’t eat meat, it’s worth noting that he can feed meat to "Mutt" iconMutt, so you shouldn’t have any problems keeping Mutt happy and obedient while keeping Henry on a meat-free diet.

(1 of 2) Not being able to eat meat means there’s a lot of foods that are off limit for Henry… although you can still feed Mutt any meat you happen to find.

Avoiding Killing Animals

Not being able to eat meat removes most of the incentive to hunt, so not killing animals should be pretty simple. "Hunting" iconHunting can help level Marksmanship, Houndmaster, Stealth and other skills, but all of them can be leveled just fine without it. So what’s the catch? What makes this requirement of “Lent” more difficult than refraining from meat? In a word: wolves. During numerous quests you’ll encounter wolves and will be tasked with defeating them. This might not be a big issue, but if you’re also trying for the Been There, Done That you’ll need to complete around 90% of the main quests, side quests and tasks in the game. Simply put, you don’t have the luxury of being picky and avoiding every quest where you may have to deal with wolves. At some point your goal of sparing animals and need to complete quests are going to come into conflict.

There are two ways to resolve this conflict: first, most of the time you encounter wolves you don’t actually have to kill them - punting them around until they flee is usually sufficient. As long as you’re wearing proper metal armor they shouldn’t be a serious threat to you (so long as you don’t run out of stamina) and you can simply block and counter their attacks to punch and kick them until they flee or fall unconscious - it doesn’t matter which. This is tedious, but it works. Mostly. Most of the time. Second, Mutt’s kills do not count against Henry, so once you have Mutt back with you, feel free to sic Mutt on wolves. You can use this to satisfy quests that actually required the wolves to be dead, just stop attacking them yourself when you see blood on them, as this means the wolves are wounded and Mutt should be able to take them down. Of course, keep in mind that Mutt isn’t as reliable as a sword or mace - keep him fed and praise him to keep Mutt obedient and raise Houndmaster to make him more effective in combat.

(1 of 2) You also can’t kill any animals, which means no hunting - not a big deal, since you can’t eat game, anyways,

You can even sic Mutt on them, as Mutt’s kills don’t count against you. (right)

Most all, however, keep an eye on the “Animals Killed” and “Meat Eaten” stats and make sure they remain zero at all times! Use "Saviour Schnapps" iconSaviour Schnapps to create hard saves often, check your stats after every quest or every combat encounter where you have to deal with wolves! Once you understand what needs to be done, staying compliant with the “Lent” achievement is more of a chore than anything else. Monitoring your progress and avoiding mistakes is what will earn you this achievement in the long run.
