Starting The Heirloom Quest¶
You won’t be able to start working on quests found in the Kuttenberg region until you progress Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s main story a lot. It’s not until after the Storm quest that you’ll reach Kuttenberg for the first time, and even then, you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can begin exploring this vast new expanse.
Once you can freely explore the region, you’ll need to make your way to Bylany, located in the southeast of Kuttenberg, and then head west along the path to the
Huntsman’s lodge (Map Marker) in the middle of the woods. Once there, you’ll find Svatava Mikush who is in a bit of a state, pleading with you to see if you can find what’s become of her husband, who last visited Bylany three days ago.
(1 of 2) Head west of Bylany to find a Huntsman’s Lodge in the woods.

Find Out What Happened to Mikush¶
Svatava will give you a hint on where to begin your search, at the tavern in Bylany, so get back on your horse and return east to the village. Once you reach the tavern, and look for a man named Chernik, who is usually sitting inside during the day. He’ll initially not be too forthcoming, so you’ll need to either pass a Speech check (the second choice is the easiest as a Medium difficulty check), play dice with him or bribe him for 100 Groschen, the choice is yours.
Regardless of how you get the information, he’ll reveal that he was blabbing about his inheritance while drunk and attracted some attention from the village’s makeshift Catchpole, Drat, who he left the tavern with.
Investigate Drat¶
Fortunately, the game makes a save here, as the conversation with Drat when you find him is an important one if you want an easier chance at the best outcome to this quest. Once you’re ready, head just north of the tavern to find Drat standing outside the farm there (during the day). Much like Chernik from the tavern, Drat won’t be so forthcoming to begin with but press the matter and you’ll get a speech check. Outside of the top choice which is a Hard difficulty check, the other two are Medium, so choose the one that best suits your skill levels and reply.
(1 of 3) Head to the Bylany tavern and speak to Chernik to learn about Drat.
Continue to exhaust the next set of dialogue choices and eventually, another speech check will be available, “I don’t believe you. He had to have said something!”, which is a Hard difficulty check. You really want to succeed at this if you can (we did at Level 24 Speech), as it will reveal some important information about Hanka, although you’ll have to succeed at more Hard difficulty checks.
Once you learn the location of where Drat left Mikush, ask him questions about Hanka in general, and you’ll get the chance of another Medium difficulty speech check. He’ll reveal about Hanka having problem with women, and became interested in his cousin that he danced with, Vendula (sound familiar?). This is the important piece of information you’ll need for later in the quest, so conclude your business with Drat and get to finding Mikush.
Go to the Crossroads Near the Forest and Follow the Tracks¶
Now that you have the location of where Drat left Mikush for Hanka, the crossroads southwest of Bylany. Open your map to see where it is, then call for your horse and begin the journey there. Once you reach the target area, you’ll need to start searching for signs of Mikush, so head along the path leading northwest and you’ll come across some blood on the ground, leading into the woods nearby to the southwest.
After a short distance, you’ll come across a hat on the ground that belongs to Mikush, pick it up and then have Mutt track the scent to lead you right to the location of Mikush (or check out the screenshots below for the exact location).
(1 of 4) The Crossroads can be found southwest of Bylany.
Save Mikush¶
Before you can even attend to Mikush, you’re going to have to take out the two Bandits that are torturing the poor man first. These are nothing more than common bandits, enemies that should pose little threat to Henry at this stage of the adventure. Sweep them aside and then rush on over to Mikush to discover he’s in a bad state.
Provided your skills are up to scratch, you can pass three Medium difficulty checks to diagnose what’s wrong with him, and then get to work with providing aid. Below is everything you need to do to ensure that Mikush survives his injuries:
-
“I’ll pray for you.” - This is a Medium difficulty Scholarship check.
-
“I should clean that wound of yours.” - You’ll need to use something that contains alcohol, such as
Fine wine. If you have nothing on you, look by the log near the campfire to find some
Schnapps you can use.
-
“I’ll put herbs on that wound.” - You’ll need
Feverfew for this, you can find these by a tree just to the west of the current campsite.
-
“I’ll give you a potion.” - The stronger the potion, the better here, so hopefully you have a Strong potion on you. You can use
Marigold decoction,
Aqua Vitalis, or
Painkiller brews here.
-
“I should bandage it.” - A simple
Bandage will suffice here.
If you do all of this successfully, Mikush will recover from his wounds and appear later in the quest. With that task out of the way, you’ll be able to talk to him and learn that during the torture, he revealed the location of Svatava and Vendula to Hanka, who has set off to find where the inheritance is.
(1 of 3) Diagnose Mikush to learn how to treat him.
Save Svatava and Vendula¶
You’re up against the clock now, although you won’t run out of time too quickly, dally for too long and Hanka will kill Mikush’s wife and daughter, so get on your horse and make for the Huntsman lodge again, as you get close, an autosave will trigger so that you can rectify any mistakes you may make in the following encounter.
Almost immediately, you’ll have to make a quick decision, be sure to choose Negotiate or else you risk Vendula being killed and a battle breaking out. At this point, for the best outcome, select the following choices:
-
“I’m a friend of the local lord.” (Hard) or “Let’s talk. (Stall)” (Medium)
-
“Let her go or pay the consequences!” (Medium) or “Let her go and let’s talk.” (Medium)
-
“You’ll have to explain it to me!”
-
“That was his right.”
-
“I hear you liked Vendula.” (You will only get this if you pressed Drat for all of the information he knows)
-
“There’s someone out there for everyone.”
-
“Violence won’t solve anything.”
-
“I need to have a good reason.”
-
“You should apologise.”
-
“Enough talk.”
At this point, Henry will agree to let Hanka go so long as he does what he says and gets himself together. Go inside and speak to Svatava and you’ll be interrupted by someone at the door, and when you go to see who it is, you’ll be greeted by Mikush (if you saved him). Speak to Svatava after the scenes is over and she’ll ask Henry if he can go and get the inheritance that she buried before explaining where you can find it.
(1 of 2) Choose to negotiate with Hanka.
Choose to negotiate with Hanka. (left), Then choose this option for the best outcome. (right)
Find the Treasure in Mesoles¶
Before you set off for Mesoles, make sure you have a
Spade on yourself or your horse, as you’ll need it to dig up the treasure. When you’re ready, ride directly to the west to reach what remains of Svatava’s village.
Once you reach the target area, her old house, open your map and you’ll see the main path going south until it reaches and intersection just before you enter the nearby woods. Go south along that intersection and then into the patch of the woods to the west of that path and you’ll find the dig spot (alternatively, check out the screens below). Take your spade, dig the chest, and loot it of everything in there.
(1 of 3) Head here is Mesoles per Svatava’s instructions.
All that remains now is to return to Svatava one final time and speak with her. You’ll have a choice on whether to hand over all of the inheritance, just the family keepsake, or lie and say you never found anything. If you do hand over all of it, you’ll bring the quest to a close and obtain 60 Groschen, along with XP in both Survival and Strength.
