Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 tries to balance its historical accuracy and medieval simulation elements with gameplay that won’t bore or frustrate players to tears. For example, Henry doesn’t regenerate like a troll and can bleed to death, but healing potions exist, Henry doesn’t have to worry about infection and if he gets to a bed he can sleep his way back to health, no matter what abuse he took earlier in the day. Carrying capacity is another familiar chore for RPG fans, and in this regard, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn’t break from the mold much. Inventory management is mandatory, but Henry’s a mule - capable of hauling around numerous suits of armor, weapons, arrows, potions, food and other treasures without bother until he crosses his magical carrying capacity, which is determined by your Strength and perks. At some point you’re going to need to lighten the load, either selling off excess gear or storing it for later. You’ve no access to a stash at the beginning of the game and as with many things, the game is keen to let you figure out how to manage this on your own. We’ve no reason to be as obtuse, however, and this page will cover how to find a stash in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Carrying Capacity and Overencumbrance¶
As mentioned earlier, Henry can only carry so much gear. In typical RPG fashion, this amount is somewhat silly, but either you make the protagonist an ant-man or you make your game intolerably tedious. As an incentive to improve your Strength, you’ll gain more carrying capacity as this stat improves, and there are some Strength perks that will also increase your maximum carrying capacity. Should you end up carrying more weight than your maximum carrying capacity, Henry won’t be able to run or fast travel, which can be a nuisance or even dangerous if an enemy finds you in such a compromised situation. On the plus side, walking around outside of towns while overburdened will increase your Strength and Vitality, making it a good way to level Henry up.
You’re probably going to want to keep plenty of clothes, armor and weapons in your inventory at any time - Charisma-boosting gear for chatting with NPCs, armor for combat, and inconspicuous clothes for sneaky business. In addition you’ll need food, potions, bandages, maybe a handful of loaded dice, torches… simply put, you’re going to be carrying some weight around, and you can’t keep everything you need or might later want to use with you at all times, especially if you want to plunder your fallen foes. You’re going to need a stash.
(1 of 2) Henry’s Strength and perks determines his carrying capacity.
Unlocking Stashes¶
The process of unlocking stashes isn’t all the complicated - stashes tend to come paired with beds. Unlock more beds and you’ll unlock more stashes, although keep in mind that not every bed you unlock will come with a stash. Below you’ll find a list of the beds you can unlock in the Trosky region that come with stashes:
-
Tachov: Talk to the blacksmith in Tachov and complete the quest The Blacksmith’s Son, which is just a tutorial for crafting weapons and you’ll get a room with a decent bed and a stash.
-
Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn: Talk to the innkeeper and rent the room for 120~ groschen to get a good bed with a stash nearby, and a stew pot you can eat from downstairs.
-
Lower Semine Mill: Do a job for Miller Kreyzl (the start of the quest Materia Prima and once you’re done carrying sacks you’ll unlock a bed and a stash upstairs.
-
Trosky Castle: Complete the main quest For Whom the Bell Tolls to get your own room near the smithy, complete with a bed and a stash.
(1 of 4) Perhaps the easiest stash to get is in Tachov - complete the forging tutorial
Unlock the aforementioend beds and you’ll gain access to the storage chests that accompany them. All storage chests share and inventory through the magic of video game convenience, so don’t worry about what’s stored where - anything you want to keep but don’t want to carry? Stash it! That said, not all storage chest are created equal:
The bed at Trosky Castle requires you to complete a fair few side quests and main quests and probably isn’t the starter stash you’re looking for. As for the bed at the Lower Semine Mill, it’s rather poor quality, you can’t read using it, and you have to climb a ladder to reach it, which can be a bit of a chore. That leaves the bed at Tachov and at the
Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn - the former is free but the latter is higher quality and gives you access to a stew pot and hence will take care of all of Henry’s creature needs.
Of course, there’s no reason not to get all of these beds and stashes, but if you want the quickest, easiest stash, head to Tachov and complete The Blacksmith’s Son - it’s literally just a bit of dialog and a minigame away. Picking herbs, brewing potions and selling them to raise the funds you need for the room at the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn also isn’t very difficult to do. In fact, if you brewed potions during the prologue you may be able to raise that money straight away, but even if you haven’t, it’s easy enough to do within a few minutes of getting out of the pillory at the start of the game.
