Starting the Canker Task

If you want to gain access to the canker task, then you’ll need to progress through a good chunk of the beginning of the game until you gain access to the Wedding Crashers Main Quest. There are two routes you can take in order to get an invitation to the wedding, but you’ll want to take the blacksmith route (found in Tachov) and choose to keep Gules alive at the end of The Jaunt Side Quest by selecting the dialogue choice “You’re not match for me”.

You’ll now need to wait a few in-game days and then visit Gules who can be found at the Semine Estate. He has been tasked with taking out the people in his band to prove himself, but he hasn’t gotten around to it as he’s still badly injured so you can offer to do it for him. There’s still four other members of his band roaming Bohemia and Canker is the first on his list.

Find Canker’s Camp

(1 of 2) Head to this location on the map to find Canker’s Camp

Head to this location on the map to find Canker’s Camp (left), then set the time to around 9-10 to make it dark. (right)

Ask Gules as many questions as possible as it’ll provide you with important information on his whereabouts and tips on how you can track him down, then head over to the large forest which is located to the east of the Semine Estate. Make your way down to the trail (found in the center of the search area) and then head north to find canker’s camp. We recommend creating a save via a Savior Schnapps before attempting to break up the camp as it’ll allow you to reload back outside if anything goes wrong.

Break Up Canker’s Camp

Before you make your way towards the camp, you’ll want to command Mutt to stay as his barking will bring the attention to you and make everything much more difficult and then you’ll want to forward the time until it’s dark (around 10-11). The majority of the camp should be asleep, so sneak towards any remaining guards that are still walking about and use a pebble to make them face away from you before slowly walking behind them and performing a stealth kill by holding L2/LT/F.

(1 of 2) Throw a pebble to distract the enemy

Throw a pebble to distract the enemy (left), and then slowly approach to perform a stealth kill. (right)

Once you’ve dealt with any of the awake enemies, you can simply take down any of the ones sleeping by slowly approaching their beds and performing a stealth kill. Be sure to loot all of their corpses for some much needed Groschen and their equipment will most likely be much better than yours at this stage of the game. Additionally, you can unlock the nearby chest via the Door and Chest Keys (found on any of the corpses) to find a Recipe for Nighthawk Potion inside!

Canker Quest Rewards

After you’ve finished looting everyone’s corpse, pick up Canker’s Mace from the floor and return to Gules back at the Semine Estate to bring the quest to a close and you’ll be rewarded with 85 Groschen for your troubles. Gules will want your help dealing with the other members, but you’ll need to wait 2-3 in-game days before their locations will become available.
