Truce Achievement Guide

The villagers of "Tachov" iconTachov and "Zhelejov" iconZhelejov share a lot of things in common - a language, a religion, a culture, a lord, a silly-sounding name… but unfortunately they also happen to share a pasture. This tempestuous stretch of grassland has undermined all fundamental similarities and put the two settlements at odds, with heavy pranking and an annual brawl being the most noteworthy product of this pasture. Help stoke - then quench the Zhelejov-Tachov rivalry to earn the Truce achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2!

Page Breakdown

Frogs and Mice Questline

To unlock the Truce achievement, you must make peace between the leaders of Zhelejov and Tachov, Old Olbram and Innkeeper Prochek, respectively, but before the healing can begin, you need to make the wound worse. Talk to either of these two (perhaps after overhearing of the Zhelejov-Tachov rivalry via a quest tipster - usually an innkeeper, but also possibly Bailiff Thrush) and ask them about their feud, then agree to be their chaos agent by pranking the other side.

Opting to work for Old Olbram will start the quest Frogs while Innkeeper Prochek gives you the quest Mice, and you must complete both in order to make progress towards the Truce achievement. Do one of them at a time - it doesn’t matter which order - and don’t fuss over optional objectives too much, as they just yield bonus groschen and praise. Nice and all, but not really relevant for this achievement. What you do need to watch out for are failing these quests, so be absolutely sure not to get caught undertaking your pranks, don’t engage in any violence, and do not tell the other village leader about the prank.

Finish both of these quests (check the linked walkthroughs, if necessary) and afterwards you can talk to either Old Olbram or Innkeeper Prochek again to start the next quest in this questling, Battle of the Frogs and Mice.

Earning the Truce Achievement

"Battle of the Frogs and Mice" iconBattle of the Frogs and Mice can be a pretty simple quest - just agree to go to the pasture with whichever party you’ve chosen and beat the other side up. It’s an easy fight, it’s worth a few groschen and it completes the quest.. But it will not earn you this achievement. To do that you need to pick the dialog option ”Wouldn’t you rather make up?” when talking to either village leader, then continue in this line of thought until you get the objective to speak to Bailiff Thrush, who dwells in "Troskowitz" iconTroskowitz.

Head to Troskowitz and talk to Bailiff Thrush (he has a quest marker now, so he should be easy enough to find) then either say ”Von Bergow would reward you.” or succeed at a Speech check to get permission to look at the late former bailiff’s chronicle. Enter the barracks near the inn and go to where the scribe works to find a book on a lectern. Flip through it to the end to find some text relevant to the case at hand:

  • ”And if the people knew just one thing about him truly - Fecit ordinem in regione ope clavi ferrei.”

Talk to "Scribe" iconScribe Gaibl nearby and get him to translate the "Latin" iconLatin for you (you’ll need to recall what the line was) and he’ll tell you that it mentioned something about “bringing order to the region with the help of an iron nail”. This gives Henry the lead he needs to continue the investigation.

Head to the pasture west of Tachov to find a search area and examine an oak tree near the center of said search. Look closely and you should find a nail sticking out of the tree - the nail and the bark of the tree are both quite dark, however, so it may not be easy to spot at a casual glance, even if you’re looking for it. Be sure to examine the nail so Henry talks about it, but do not remove the nail - you can plant the nail on a different tree at either end of the pasture if you want to give the land to Tachov or Zhelejov, but for this achievement, you want a fair peace, and apparently the old bailiff saw fit to split the pasture evenly between the two villages.

(1 of 4) After starting “Battle of the Frogs and Mice”, angle towards reconciliation, then go visit Bailiff Thrush in Troskowitz and get permission to investigate the old bailiff’s chronicles.

Return to Bailiff Thrush and inform him of your discovery, then return to the quest-giver and go to the pasture with him. Once there, Bailiff Thrush will show up to render verdict, and while you can interject to gain (or most likely lose) reputation by being an annoying “pick-me” for the lawman, eventually Bailiff Thrush will announce the pasture’s boundaries, making neither side happy. Old Olbram and Innkeeper Prochek vow to find a new feud to occupy their time, and for your part you can chat with Bailiff Thrush to get a copy of Master’s Studies I.

In any event, this achievement should pop as Thrush starts to address the crowd in the pasture.
