Talk to Zizka and Say Goodbye to Rosa¶
You awake on the battlements of Suchdol to find Zizka who is here to deliver the news that Sigismund’s army have retreated and it appears you have driven out his forces due to stealing the remaining silver he had. You’ll also learn that the Ruthards are set to leave, so Zizka bids you to say your farewells to them before they’re gone.
At this stage, you can, and should, speak with some of your other allies here during the celebrations. Of particular note, you’ll want to speak to Janosh and then sit with Dry Devil and the gang for a drink and some toasting. Be sure to toast to the fallen for a reputation boost, and there’s another chance here to work on
Katherine’s romance if you should so wish it. When you’re ready to advance the quest, outside the main gate to find Rosa standing to one side, speak with her to say your farewells and she’ll ask you to look her up if you’re ever in Podiebrad.
(1 of 2) Speak to Janosh who is sitting alone.

While everything seems calm, a rider will come to the gates, and it appears that Kubyenka did in fact survive, although he comes bearing a message. It seems Erik wants to duel Henry, man-to-man, in what remains of Sigismund’s camp. This could be a trap, so you’ll have a chance to talk it over with your allies before you make a decision.
Should you Duel Erik?¶
This part of the quest is entirely optional, by no means do you have to accept Erik’s duel, and it should be said that it’s probably the most challenging duel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, although doable for anyone that has been investing in their combat skills and find their main stats around Level 20+. The main important person to speak to here is Zizka, who can now be found near the well in the main courtyard.
If you decide to forego the duel with Erik, in suspicion of it being a trap (or feel your combat skills are not adequate), then simply tell Zizka that you’ll refuse his challenge, and that you don’t want to kill him. This will permanently lock you out of the duel and you’ll then need to follow Zizka to the gates to bring this short quest to an end.
If you don’t wish to fight Erik, tell Zizka you’ll refuse his challenge.
If, on the other hand, you do wish to duel Erik, tell Zizka you’re going to do it, then prepare yourself before speaking with the guard at the gate to let you out. If you want the most complete experience of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, we highly suggest that you do accept the duel with Erik. You should now prepare, making sure your equipment is repaired and use any potions beforehand that will give you some buffs for the duel. We suggest the following potions to use before setting off:
Of course, use the strongest version of these Potions that you can (you can always brew them at the Alchemy bench found in the courtyard). Once you’re ready to get the duel underway, speak to the guard and set off for a showdown with Erik.
Defeat Erik¶
If you spoke to Zizka beforehand, he’ll have given you a key piece of advice, find a way to rile him before the duel to have him drop his guard in blind fury. When you first meet with Erik, you’ll exchange some insults and you’ll get a choice, be sure to select “**You die as Istvan.” (Provoke and attack)**, this will lower his stats for the battle ahead, making it far easier.
Erik wastes no time and will immediately dash over to you at the start of the duel, usually look to perform a stab to begin with, Parry and counter this to score a few free hits on him and then let out a Battle Cry to hopefully boost your own stats if you have the required Perks. Erik tends to adopt a high stance with his weapon, so attacking his sides are better options, and his head is well plated, so you’ll deal less damage there.
(1 of 3) Be sure to win the skill check to lower Erik’s stats and send him into a blind fury.
Erik can be easier to defeat if you take the offensive, giving him no time to react to your blows, even if he blocks one or two of them. The potions you drank before hand will allow you to go all out without having to back up for Stamina too often, and if you’re using a Sword and Shield (which we did), look to use Precise Strike and
Master Strike where possible. Hit Erik enough and he’ll finally yield, bringing this epic duel to an end. Unfortunately, you’re not able to finish the job as Henry spots a large army on its way to Suchdol and races back, bringing this quest to an end and starting
So it begins…
