After concocting a plan with von Bergow and the rest of the gang during "Oratores" iconOratores to steal Sigismund’s silver in the "Italian Court" iconItalian Court, it’s time for Godwin to get his acting chops on and put it into action. Perform impeccably, and there’s even a Trophy/Achievement in it for you, so keep reading to learn how to complete "The Italian Job" iconThe Italian Job in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and obtain the True Cardinal Trophy/Achievement.

The Italian Job is a main quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Go to the Italian Court

The quest opens with you on the streets of "Kuttenberg" iconKuttenberg, on your way to the Italian Court and you’ll find yourself in control of Godwin, taking on the role of Cardinal. From this point, until you regain control of Henry again, you can obtain the True Cardinal Trophy/Achievement if you keep up the ruse without being suspected. The following steps will ensure you get that completed without any complications, remember you can reload the latest autosave should something go wrong.

To begin with, you’ll be able to visit some of the street vendors as you make your way to the court, these are an easy way to trip up, because it may be commented on later on what items that you purchase here. The only one that has any value is the St. Barbara figurine, as it can be used in your deliberations later (although there is an easier way of solving that, so feel free to leave this).

(1 of 2) Only the St. Barbara figurine is worth purchasing here.

Only the St. Barbara figurine is worth purchasing here. (left), You must conduct yourself gracefully as Godwin. (right)

Once you finish shopping, continue along to reach the entrance to the court, where Jerome Naaz will come to greet you. When give the option, choose (Bow) followed by ("Evade" iconEvade) to divert any suspicion from yourselves.

Follow Jerome Naaz to the Church Council

Jerome will lead you through the main courtyard next, and you must follow him while walking to avoid raising suspicion. You’ll be given the chance to ask some questions via Quick Reply, but ignore this temptation as there’s nothing to gain from it aside from perhaps saying something you shouldn’t. Eventually, you’ll be taken to meet the Guard Commander, Giuseppe Cabrini, who is an Italian native and you’ll need to choose your words carefully here. Respond with the following:

  • Cordial greeting in Italian
  • Why did you stay here?
  • How many guards are under your command?
  • How is life here?
  • (Say goodbye and move on)
  • Come (Enter the Council)

With this, Giuseppe will be none the wiser and you’ll gain entry to the council meeting with minimal fuss.

Giuseppe is a native Italian, so choose your responses carefully.

Discuss the Church Dispute and Help Henry

This is the easiest part to get wrong when trying to obtain the True Cardinal Trophy/Achievement, so be prepared that you may need to reload the autosave at the start here if you’re not careful (following the responses below will get you it however).

Helping Henry is an optional objective, but doing so will limit the amount of guards he’ll need to deal with in his section. If you’re more concerned on getting the True Cardinal Trophy/Achievement, however, we suggest you focus on getting through the right choices with Godwin. At the start, choose to Continue formally, followed by The Pope has not reached a decision. At this point, you’ll be able to move about and speak to the various parties here, but before you do anything, make sure you drink wine from the keg to the left, this will keep Godwin drunk for the entire council and allow him to speak fluently.

(1 of 4) First speak with Father Anthony.

Now, visit the following people and answer with the following responses:

  • Talking to "Father Anthony" iconFather Anthony (dressed in brown on the right side of the table): Answer “What are the Brotherhood’s demands?”, “I understand”, and then select (Leave).

  • Talking to "Albich of Uniczow" iconAlbich of Uniczow (dressed in green to the right of Father Anthony): Answer with “Remind me”, choose to (Keep Quiet), then select “What do you think about the dispute?” before ending with (Leave).

  • Talking to Abbot Jan III (dressed in white on the left side of the table): Answer with “What are the monastery’s demands?”, then follow up with “I understand”, and then choose to (Leave).

At this point, you’ve listened to all parties, so consider whether you want to risk helping Henry by speaking to the other attendees, otherwise speak to Janosh Usher at the head of the table and choose the following choices:

  • (Start closing speech)
  • Albich is right. (Support Sedletz)
  • (Calm down)

At this point, if you did everything correctly, you’ll obtain the True Cardinal Trophy/Achievement.

Secure the West Gate

You’ll find yourself back in control of Henry and the others in the local tavern, choose to review the tasks and then reply with got it to get the ball rolling with the next step of the heist. Your goal here is to take out the guards and secure the west gate, you can either knock them out or kill them, and how many you have to deal with will depend on if you did any of the optional objectives during the council.

To begin with, though, head out the back to the northwest and look to your left to find a ladder leading up. Turn left again immediately and climb over to reach the upper area where you will find two guards patrolling. Wait for the one on the left to come and go, then deal with him, then do the same to the one on the right.

(1 of 4) Climb the ladder at the back here.

At this point, you have a decision, stick to stealth and deal with the remaining guards in the courtyard, or use your superior position at the top here and lead the remaining guards to your location, where you can take them out one-by-one. Regardless of the method you choose, once the final guard falls, you’ll need to go and meet with Hans near the well in the center of the courtyard who, after speaking with him, mentions that Adder is missing.

Find Adder

There are a few suggestions that you’re given as to where he may be, but you should know Adder well enough by now so head to the kitchen, which is located to the north of the courtyard and you will trigger a scene. At this point, you’ll either have to kill Giuseppe or talk him down to end this without violence, the best outcome. To do this, choose the following options:

  • (Calm Down)
  • (Stop Adder)
  • (Stay Silent)
  • (Stay Silent)
  • Use Brabant’s Phrases
  • Fatta la legge, trovato l’inganno

This will take away the attention from Henry and his group, and you can go outside and speak with Adder to bring the situation to a close.

Try to resolve the situation between Adder and Giuseppe without violence.

Find the Connection Between the Cellar and the Crypt

Follow Hans, Adder, and Brabant into the northern door and take the stairs down to reach the cellar. Your team will split at this point, as Brabant and Adder will go into the door on the left, while Hans will take the door on the right. Follow Hans and then search the northwestern wall (to the right of where Hans inspects) to find the spot and trigger a scene where you’ll complete your take over of the Italian Court.

Once the rest of the gang gets into the courtyard, tell Zizka you must still free the lords and that you wish to go along with them, this will score you some reputation boosts and keep your promise to Rosa from before.

Knock on this wall here while in the same room as Hans.

Free the Lords

Follow your allies up the stairs in the northwest corner of the courtyard and you’ll run into Csaba Molnar, who is guarding the door to where the Lords are being kept. Once again, you have the option of violence (have your allies attack him while you hit from behind) or talking it out with him, the best solution to go for here. To do so, choose the following options:

  • Any of the three skill checks, you’ll most likely fail but lead to better choices
  • “Calm down, Adder!” (Medium Speech check)
  • “We beat you.”
  • “A new life awaits you!”
  • “I understand.” (Let him go)

A scene will trigger at this point where you release the Lords and, if you was successful in keeping Godwin’s brother alive during the Feast main quest, both Godwin and his father will finally reconcile.

You can talk down Csaba without battling him.

Talk to Zizka on the Walls

Your next step is to talk to Zizka, who can be found on the walls, but be careful before you do this, as this is the last chance you’ll get to explore and loot the Italian Court now you have full control. There is plenty of useful items to find here, as per Samuel’s instructions when he calls you over.

You can find books in the library, including skill books and lore books, that when read, will increase your Scholarship skill (and takes up no time). More importantly, in the armory, you’ll find the best armor in the game, and don’t forget to loot the locked chests in there, as you’ll get your hands on the best gauntlets and other useful gear. Take the time to kit yourself out, and don’t leave the armory without picking up a Polearm and equipping it to one of your quick slots, you’ll need it shortly.

(1 of 3) Be sure to loot and equip a Polearm from the armory.

Once you’re ready to continue, head up to the walls to find Zizka and tell him you’re ready to trigger some scenes that signals Erik’s arrival.

Hold off the Attackers as Long as you can

Hopefully you equipped a Polearm before this battle begun (if not, you can find some leaning against the walls here), get it out and leave the soldiers to your allies, your main focus should be pushing down any ladder you see which requires the use of that Polearm. You shouldn’t have to do this for too long, knocking down three or four ladders is enough and soon enough, you’ll have to go down and defend the outer bailey.

There will be lots of soldiers here at this point, but you have enough allies here yourself that you can focus on attacking any soldiers focused on them instead for an easier time. Remember to use Battle Cries regularly if you have the respective Perks to increase your damage, and "Bandage" iconBandage any bleeding as soon as possible. Eventually multiple scenes will take place as you make your escape from the Italian Court with the loot.

Follow your allies through the tunnel, and, when you get the chance, head off into the side passage to find Hans and speak with him. If you’re looking to romance him, this is another chance to advance that relationship. Regardless of your decision exit to Ruthard Palace to trigger more scenes.

Use a Polearm to knock the ladders down during the attack.

Defeat Brabant’s Men

Following Brabant’s betrayal, you’ll need to deal with his men who have flooded the courtyard of Ruthard Palace. If you had no problems with the previous battle at the Italian Court, you’ll be fine here, you can put the same tactics into action. Let your allies engage first, then back them up from behind, using Battle Cries to give yourself a damage boost in the process.

After you take out the initial group, you’ll have to deal with a final group on the stairs that are shooting you from afar. If you get on the stairs yourself, you can take these out one-by-one and when the last one falls, cutscenes will take over and the quest will come to an end, beginning "Civitas Pragensis" iconCivitas Pragensis in the process.
