Starting the Seeking Justice Task¶
To be able to access the Kuttenberg region, you’ll have to wait until you’ve progressed the main story a fair amount, indeed, it’s not until you complete the Storm quest that you’ll reach
Kuttenberg for the first time, and then you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can jump on your horse and explore this massive region.
That’s not all though, to be able to accept this Task, you must have first completed the All’s Fair side quest in Wysoka and resolved it in the way that you let Pavel take the items that you stole, seemingly leaving the quest in a rather anti-climatic manner. Should you have met these conditions, make a trip back to
Suchdol and speak with
Captain Frenzl near the baths. Once you start speaking with him, say “Do you need anything?” to have him start asking about the incident.
You’ll find Captain Frenzl in Suchdol near the baths. There will be no quest marker.
Find Pavel¶
Frenzl will point you in the direction of Kuttenberg, claiming that some of the goods that this thief got off with would only be viable to sell in the city. With that said, he suggests you go and speak with the merchants there to see if anyone has sold them anything. Travel to Kuttenberg and if you enter from the western gate, go into the Trader shop and ask if he’s had anyone sell him anything. You’ll strike out, but you will get a lead, the Hole in the Wall tavern may be a place where a thief frequents.
The Hole in the Wall, if you’ve not been there before (you will visit this tavern during the Into the Underworld main quest) is situated near the southeast gate of the city. Make your way over and then speak with the Innkeeper, Mole and ask him about a certain Hired Hand.
As you might have expected, Mole won’t just rat out his clients, so you’re going to either have to pay him or pass a skill check. The top choice, “No one will find out” is an Easy difficulty check that you should easily pass at this stage of the game. He will reveal that someone sold him some goods, but that he wouldn’t take the Alchemy book, and instead points you in the direction of the
Scribe at the Town Hall.
(1 of 4) Use the top option at the Hole in the Wall Tavern to get some information on Pavel.
When you get to the location, the Scribe can be difficult to find. You’ll have to go into the Town Hall, out the door at the back, and up the stairs to your left to find one of the rooms containing the Scribe. Once again, ask him about the hired hand and you’ll be told that he was seeking an apprenticeship with a Cobbler.
There are two such shops for you to check in Kuttenberg, but the one you’re after is the northern one on the map. Head on over and ask the owner behind the counter about his apprentice, he’ll let you know he’s in the back room, so go in and you’ll finally meet up with Pavel once again. You can grill Pavel on what he did and why, but ultimately, you’re going to have to decide whether you’ll turn him in, accept money from him, or lie to Frenzl.
Make your return to Suchdol and speak with Captain Frenzl one final time, he’ll ask if you’ve found the thief. You can choose to either let him know where Pavel is, of which it won’t end well for him, or you can choose to lie. Regardless of how you decide to settle matters, the Task will come to an end and you’ll obtain 60 Groschen as a reward.
