Starting The Voivode’s Curse Task¶
When it comes to starting The Voivode’s Curse, there are a few prerequisites you’ll need to take care of first. You’ll need to have become a Blacksmith for Radovan, over at Tachov, and completed all three of his quests, concluding with The Hermit. At this point, you can make your way to the wedding for Wedding Crashers (if you’ve not already done so) or ask Radovan if he has any more jobs for you, at which point he will direct you to the Nomads’ Camp to help out the Voivode there.
If you’ve not already done so, you should make sure you complete Miri Fajta beforehand, this is arguably the longest quest in the Trosky region, but it involves all of the people you’ll be dealing with during The Voivode’s Curse, including Aranka, the main quest giver. Once you’re ready, head back to the camp, speak with her to learn what her troubles are, and get the ball rolling.
Forging Rikonaris’ Sabre¶
As Aranka mentioned to you, she will need you to forge a special blade for the Voivode, douse in Charcoal water, and then perform a ritual by killing a Wolf to make sure the blade will work and void the curse on him. With the recipe in hand, make your way back to Tachov and get ready to start smithing. If you find yourself short on the materials needed, be sure to check the nearby chest to get some Scrap Metal and Fastening Materials, and then speak with Radovan and purchase some Steel from him if you’re still lacking some.
At this point, you should know how to forge a sword, and Rikonaris’ Sabre is no different, just follow the usual advice of hitting the blade while its a straw yellow color evenly across the blade, aiming for large sparks by applying a bit of strength into each strike. Once it’s done, Henry will automatically douse it in the Charcoal Water that Aranka has provided.
Kill a Dog with the Sabre¶
With the Sabre forged, the final step is to equip it and coat it with the blood from a dog, fortunately Wolves count for this, so you won’t need to go and kill a domestic animal in a village or town to do the deed (although the option remains, you monster!). You can find Wolves all over the fields and forests of the Trosky region, but if you’re struggling to find some still, you can always head to the forests north of Rocktower Pond where you’ll find a PoI titled “Wolf Pack” (check the screenshots below).
Once you run into some Wolves, all that you need to do is kill one of them with the Sabre, doing so will coat it in blood and update the objective. All that remains is to then bring the Sabre with you back to the Nomads’ Camp and hand it over to Aranka to complete the Task. As a reward, you’ll obtain 45 Groschens, a Vagrant’s hat, and Aranka will teach you some skills for free, such as Alchemy.
