Time is running out for the defenders of Suchdol Castle as resources are running out and help from Jobst seemingly nowhere to be seen. The
Hunger and Despair main quest is an important one, as you can void the Lent Trophy/Achievement if you’re not careful, and there are missable romance scenes for both
Katherine and Hans Capon. Keep reading to learn how to complete this main quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Bring Capon Something to Eat¶
You’re at breaking point during the siege now, as food has almost completely dried up and the Praguers don’t seem to be giving up on getting the hands on the silver. Your main task during this mission is to either find Capon something to eat, or ignore it and tell him you’re not giving him something to eat, ending the objective there and then.
You can opt to pay Janosh a visit and see if he has any food in the kitchen, but unfortunately, you’ll strike out. You will, however, prompt an angry exchange from the Dry Devil who poses the idea of Mutt, to which you can and should object. If you’re looking for food for Capon, however, you have two main methods available to you.
Getting Wine¶
Wine will actually count as food that you can hand over to Capon, and you can get your hands on it via the various locked chests around the castle. Head to where Henry’s room is and head into the door opposite, you’ll find a Medium difficulty chest you can pick and inside, pocket some Wine. All you then need to do is return it to Hans to complete the objective and advance the quest. This is especially useful if you’re going for the Lent Trophy/Achievement as this is obviously a non-meat option.
(1 of 2) Head into the room opposite Henry’s and pick the medium difficulty chest.
Head into the room opposite Henry’s and pick the medium difficulty chest. (left), You’ll find Wine that can be given to Hans. (right)
Making Shoe Soup¶
The second method available to you is by creating some shoe soup out of Lambskin shoes. To get this option, first speak to Musa near the gate of the courtyard and exhaust the options, he’ll throw up the story of someone making soup out of laces before to which you can reply that this is a good idea, do so and you’ll get the objective.
Head into the building and up to the floor that Henry’s room can be found, then go into the room before that, this is Lady Frenzl’s room and you’ll find a Hard difficulty chest you can pick which holds the Lambskin shoes. With these in hand, return to Musa and you can have him make the soup for you, of which he will make two portions. Feel free to have one for yourself and then give the other to Hans to complete the objective.
(1 of 4) Speak to Musa and exhaust all of the dialogue options.
Get the Enemies off the Walls¶
Following some scenes, you’ll have to defend the castle from the latest raid from the Praguers, starting with the nearby walls. Remember to equip a Polearm to push any ladders away, although this time around, you’ll need to deal with some soldiers already up on the walls. Deal with them, and then push down any ladders that remain (your allies will push them down themselves if you take too long).
Once you’re done with the ladders, you’ll need to take advantage of the cover Hans provides and knock the door down of the tower, then rush in and kill any soldiers there. Your allies will come with you, so you can wait until they initiate combat and support them from behind if you wish. Go out the other door in this tower after and you’ll need to repeat the same steps from before, push the ladders down and kill any soldiers that have got onto the rear walls.
Be sure to take the enemies out first before trying to get to the ladders.
Hans and Katherine Romance Scenes¶
Once evening rolls around, you’ll discuss plans for sending someone out to deliver a message to Jobst and looking for reinforcements, what looks to be a suicide mission. As to be expected at this point, Henry gladly volunteers and you’ll get some time to say your goodbyes. Once you regain control, be sure to use Quick Reply to Zizka to hear the backstory on Katherine and why she reacted the way she did.
At this point, provided you’ve done the necessary steps beforehand, you can now get either Hans or Katherine’s romance scenes. These are mutually exclusive, so you can only get one or the other, and having romanced Rosa Ruthard doesn’t seem to have any impact on it. As a general rule, you must have taken the option to choose the romance (heart icon) options in dialogue whenever given the chance, and for Katherine specifically, you must have listened to what Zizka said a moment ago to learn about her past.
(1 of 3) Listen to Zizka to get Katherine’s backstory.
You can find Hans on his bed in his room, while Katherine can be found in the makeshift infirmary, find your desired romance options and then do the following:
-
For Hans, speak to him in his room and then, when given the choice, choose the Kiss Him option to trigger it.
-
For Katherine, provided you got the backstory from Zizka a moment ago, choose “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again.”, At this point, head to the walls to find your makeshift bed for the night and choose to wait, this will cause Katherine to show up and trigger her romance scene.
Regardless of your choice (or if you decide to romance neither of them), once you rest for the evening, the quest will come to an end and Reckoning will begin.
