As you wander around medieval Bohemia, you’ll come across all manner of people looking for assistance from Henry. These can be massive side quests that span an entire region, to smaller Tasks that can be completed quickly. The Absolver Task is a quick quest you can complete in the Kuttenberg region. Keep reading to learn how to complete this Task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and pocket some Groschens or even a powerful weapon!

Starting the Absolver Task¶

You won’t gain access to the Kuttenberg region until you’ve progressed the main story a fair amount, it’s not until you complete the Storm quest that you’ll reach Kuttenberg for the first time, and then you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can jump on your horse and explore this massive region.

Once you’re free to roam the wilderness though, make your way to Sigismund’s Camp, which is located in the hills to the east of Suchdol. If you’re having trouble gaining access, take on the Hush, My Darling quest which involves gaining access to the camp. Once you’re inside, you’ll be looking for a man named Thomas of Kolin, who walks around the camp (check your map for a quest marker) or resides at the canteen in the center.

Steal Basan’s Sword¶

Thomas has got his eyes on a Cuman’s sword, the Absolver, and wants you to begin by stealing it from him. You’ll have to make sure you’re not seen, before forging a replica and replacing it, thus not having the Cuman be none the wiser. The first task, then, is to find the tent in question, which is located on the east side of the camp, near the arena. You’ll spot the tent in question with its white top, as Thomas mentioned. Make sure nobody is around, crouch, and sneak into the tent to find a chest to unlock (Medium), inside you’ll find the Absolver you’re looking for.

Forge a Replica of Basan’s Sword¶

At this point, you have a choice on what to do next. If your only interest is keeping a powerful sword, than you can ignore the rest of this quest and make off with the loot. If you wish to honor your word though, you’re going to need to pay a visit to the Smithy and forge a replica (which you’ve now learned the recipe for). The materials you’ll need for this are:

• Deer skin (1)
• Eight-sided sword pommel (1)
• Horned sword guard (1)
• Frankfurt steel (2)
• Iron (2)

Fortunately, all of these materials can be purchased at this very camp, there are two Blacksmiths and between them both, every material can be purchased. Once you have them, go ahead and forge the weapon, trying to achieve it at quality level 3, as this will give you more options.

Give the Absolver to Thomas¶

The last step of this quest now is to decide whether you’re going to give Thomas the real sword or the replica. For the sword to pass off as the real deal to Thomas, you’ll need to make sure it’s at least of quality rank 3, or else he will spot the inconsistencies. Regardless of what sword you give him, you’ll have to replace either the real sword or the replica where you found it (or don’t, but it won’t end well for poor Thomas). Regardless of how you decide to handle the situation, if you get Thomas to accept the sword you offer, the quest will complete, with him handing over 607.9 Groschens.
