Starting the Demon’s of Trosky Task¶
You won’t gain full access to Trosky Castle until after you complete the For Whom the Bell Tolls main quest, where you’ll finally be accepted as the messengers you first set out to be. Once you’re left to your own devices, go find Chamberlain Ulrich and speak with him to learn that the castle currently has an infestation of demons, and needs someone to go take care of the issue.
Despite there most likely not being demons involved, play along with them and agree to assist and Ulrich will hand you either some Holy water or Magic water, the choice doesn’t matter too much.
Talk to Manyeta¶
First on your list of people to see is Manyeta, the Cook, who can be found in the kitchen, which is located on the ground floor of the eastern tower. When you speak to her to learn that you’ll need to douse fireplaces in five locations on the Crone’s side of the castle (the western tower).
Banish the Devils From the Crone’s Side of the Castle¶
As mentioned above, the Crone’s side is at the western tower, so go over there and enter via the stairs from the ground floor. You’ll need to find five locations, and their locations are as follows:
- In the kitchen, accessed by climbing the stairs in front of Henry’s room (you’ll also find Bertha here)
- Go up the stairs and into the first room on your left
- Up three more flights of stairs and into the Scribe’s chambers
- Up the next two set of stairs (past the Alchemy bench room)
- Go up the final set of stairs and into the room opposite where you enter
Talk to Bertha¶
Bertha is next on the list, and you’ll find her in the Crone, most likely as you’re working on the fireplaces for Manyeta. Once again, she’ll tell you another tale about the devils and then ask that you banish the devils from the Maiden’s side (the eastern tower).
Banish the Devils From the Maiden’s Side of the Castle¶
Return to the Maiden’s tower (to the east) and once again, enter from the ground floor and begin working your way up to douse the next five locations. You’ll be able to find them in the following locations:
- Head into the kitchen, near where the food pot is
- Go up two flights of stairs and through the only door
- Through the northwestern door in this same room
- Back to the previous stairs and up another flight (there’s a soldier standing outside this door at times)
- Through the other door in this room
Talk to Osina¶
All that remains now is to go over and speak to Osina, the Blacksmith, and see if he has any suggestions on dealing with the demons. He’ll give you a series of directions on where some devils may be hiding (you’ll need to return to him after each one to get the next direction), and the locations are as follows:
- Go to where the small arena is (where Hans would be sitting often) and search in the room under the stairs
- Head to the eastern tower (the Maiden) and, when entering from the ground floor, go up one flight of stairs, across the room to the next set and up another to find another privy to examine against the wall
- Go to the western tower (the Crone) and enter via the stairs outside. Go up three flights of stairs (starting with the ones in the kitchen) and when you find the white wall, look for a third and final privy
Once you return to Osina again, he’ll admit that he’s been yanking your chain and the objective will finally complete. All that remains now is to return to Chamberlain Ulrich and deliver the news that the demons have been dealt with, as a reward, you’ll obtain 55 Groschen, a Golden cup, a Golden chalice, and XP in both Survival and Vitality. The real winners here are the Golden cup and chalice, as they can be sold for a hefty price!
