Starting the Dragon’s Lair Quest¶
You won’t be able to start working on quests found in the Kuttenberg region until you progress Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s main story a lot. Indeed, it’s not until after the Storm quest that you’ll reach Kuttenberg for the first time, and even then, you’ll be locked into the introductory main quests of this region before you can begin exploring this vast new expanse.
Once you do have free reign to start exploring, make your way to Bylany, a village located to the southeast of the region (or south of Kuttenberg) that has a few quests available for you to start here. The Dragon’s Lair quest can be started by finding Monk Slava, who can be found walking the streets or sitting on a bench near one of the trees.

Deliver the Message to the Abbot¶
Your first task is to simply play courier for Slava, who requests that you take his letter to the Abbot to explain the situation and ask for his opinion on what should be done about it. You’ll find him at Sedletz Monastery, which is located just on the outskirts of Kuttenberg, so mount up, and start riding to the northeast.
Once you reach it, head around the back to find the Abbot speaking with a man named Gerhard, another prominent player in this episode. It appears that the Abbot would like to keep the whole situation quiet and have the bones burned, to prevent heresy from spreading in the local populace. He’ll task Henry of returning to Slava and giving him the notice of what to do with the bones. Don’t be too hasty to leave though, follow Gerhard out and he’ll give you a proposal, give the bones to him and he’ll reward you for it, just be wary that he has sent someone else to deal with it before you, so first come, first served.

Go Back to Slava¶
With the Abbot’s orders in hand, fast travel back to Bylany and find Monk Slava near the tree in the southeast of the village. You can tell him as much as you want about the current situation surrounding the bones, be it the Abbot’s wish to burn the bones or that Gerhard wants them for himself. Regardless of your reply, he’ll inform you that a man named Vashek found the bones, and you should speak with him to learn the location of them.
Before you can head there, however, you’ll be interrupted by the Alchemist, Leopold, who has his own designs on the bones. You’ll have a chance to interject, and if you win a Very Hard persuasion check, you can get the group to leave. Fail, though, and you’ll need to use your fists to put his two bodyguards down, a simple battle if you’ve invested in Unarmed enough, but it will take a while to knock them unconscious.
(1 of 2) You may have to brawl against Leopold’s bodyguards.

Regardless of how the situation plays out, you’re in a race against time to find the bones before Leopold, so make a quick trip to the tavern to find Vashek and pass a simple speech check (“You’ll be doing yourself a favour as well.”) and he’ll begin explaining, at length, where exactly you can find the bones. This is quite a lot to take in, and it will lead you in circles for a moment, instead, check out our map below to find the exact spot, although note that you will have to head to the first objective marker nearby.
Find the Bones According to the Description¶
This first objective is the Woodcutter’s camp, where Vashek begin his wandering and eventually found the bones. At this point, Henry will begin reciting each step of the journey he took, and while you’re free to follow it manually, you can just ride ahead to the final location, which you’ll find in the screenshots below or by heading to the northwest part of the quest area.
Henry will remark when you’ve found the exact location, and you’ll then need to grab a Spade and dig the bones up to trigger a scene. Leopold had followed you to the digsite and attempts to intimidate Henry, you have a choice of handing over the bones (and failing the quest in the process), passing a very hard speech check, or getting into a three-way battle with the other group that turns up.
(1 of 4) The location of the bones can be found to the west of the search area.
The easiest method is to go with the flow and let the skirmish begin, you only have to survive a short while before the battle comes to an end and the enemies themselves aren’t overly difficult to deal with so long as you don’t let yourself get surrounded. You’ll once again get a chance to either continue the attack, or agree to share the bones amongst the three parties.
At this point, you have two courses of action, if you have all of the bones, it’s in your best interest to return to Slava and hand them all over to be burned, this will end the quest with some positive reputation gains. If you hand only one over, he’ll be disappointed, but the quest will still end.
On the other hand, pay Gerhard a visit (who will either still be where you first spoke, or the Inn to the north of it) and hand the bones over, as thanks for your assistance, he’ll hand over 275 Groschens and the quest will also end.
