Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has an abundance of skills and increasing their levels will take a lot of time, but reading certain books is an alternative way to gain some levels relatively quickly early on. Read on to find out where you can obtain books, and how you can purchase them.

You can purchase books from scribes or you can find them while exploring.

Finding and Purchasing Skill Books

You can find books in various spots all over Medieval Bohemia, but you can purchase them from scribes which are usually found in towns/cities. The first scribe you’ll come across is Gaibl in Troskowitz and he’ll have 10 Skill Books on offer (found below) and it’ll cost you 1,060 Groschen in total to obtain them all.

If you want to purchase the books early on in your adventure, then you can acquire the funds by completing the Cabbage Thief quest for 789 Groschen. You can the sell the books back to the scribe once you’ve read it and put the money towards the next book on the list.

Scribe Gaibl Books

Name Skill Price
Life in the Saddle I Horse Riding 106
Life in the Tavern I Drinking and Alcoholism 106
Marathon I Vitality 106
Master Studies I Scholarship 106
Most Faithful Friend I Houndmaster 106
On the Composition of Alchemy I Alchemy 106
Products of Skilled Hands I Craftsmanship 106
Spearman Training I Polearm Combat 106
The Art of Demosthens I Speech 106
Towards Flexibility of the Body I Agility 106

Reading Books

You can only read books when sitting so head over to a inn/tavern and then open the book via your inventory and choose the study option. You’ll now want to forward the time until the book percentage hits 100% which usually takes 2-3 hours. Unfortunately, the more time you spend reading will deplete your nourishment and energy stats, so you’ll want to avoid letting them get too low unless you’re near somewhere where you can replenish them quickly otherwise you’ll begin to see certain side effects, such as losing HP.
