As you roam about the countryside you’ll unlock new nature-based points-of-interest, which will be marked on your map. None of these points-of-interest are quite as numerous as bird nests, however, and while many gamers will likely be keen enough to bring these nests down on their own, some may wonder - after getting eggs, lockpicks and other junk - whether there’s a good reason to continue terrorizing unborn evolved dinosaur babies? The answer, in short, is yes, and this page will explain how to efficiently plunder bird nests and what loot you can gain by doing so in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
- Is it worth shooting down bird nests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?: Yes! Bird nests often yield eggs, but they can also drop badges, jewelry, lockpicks, gambling dice and other treasures! Check out our handy-dandy interactive map for all bird nest locations in Trosky!

How to Knock Down Bird Nests¶
Eggs are delicious. Fried, boiled, poached, scrambled… whatever your preference. Thing is, birds know their eggs are yummy, too - case in point, they’re not above robbin’ (pun intended) the nests of their fellow avians for such treats. To counter this thievery somewhat, birds build nests in inaccessible places, and as far as the bird nests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are concerned, that means safely out of reach of prowling, hungry Henrys, held aloft by imperious tree branches.
Fortunately for Henry, he’s one of those clever, tool-using apes, and there are various means at his disposal for reminding those nests that gravity exists, namely throwing rocks at them or shooting them down with bows or crossbows.
Throwing Rocks at Nests¶
To throw rocks, you need to sneak (C / R3), then hold (G / R1) to aim the rock. This is normally used to distract NPCs, but you can use it to spook animals or knock nests out of trees just as well. There are some limitations, however - Henry seems to throw rocks a little below and to the right of where the reticle is pointed, so you’ll have to adjust for that. Fortunately rocks are endless, their only real ammunition being your patience. Rocks are also short range, low accuracy projectiles, so bird nests that are particularly high up may be very difficult or impossible to hit with rocks.
Shooting Nests with Bows and Crossbows¶
For those harder to reach nests, you’re better off using a bow or crossbow. You can find these on the corpses of bandits, you can buy them from the Huntsman’s son Vitek who dwells west of Tachov, or you can pick up a starter bow and a few arrows from the “Target on a tree” point-of-interest on the road between Troskowitz and Tachov. When using such weapons to knock down nests, you’re best off using crude arrows or bolts and saving superior projectiles for things that actually need killing. Crude arrows and bolts are dropped regularly by bandits, and can be purchased from Vitek.
Loot From Nests¶
Eggs are all well and good - part of a balanced breakfast - but there’s not much incentive to shoot nests down for that, since food is so abundant. Good thing, then, that nests often contain other treasures, including:
- Lockpicks
- Dice
- Sword pommels, guards and other crafting components
- Spectacles (high sale value!)
- Rings, brooches and other valuables
- Tin, Silver and Gold Badges
Just to name a few things we’ve seen fall out of chests in the Trosky region alone. Nests have static spawns, and if you don’t want to bother knocking down every nest in the game, you can just check out our interactive map for nest locations and their contents! It’s also worth noting that you gain a small amount of Survival EXP every time you discover a nest and if you shoot a nest out of a tree you gain a pittance of Marksmanship EXP.
Nests also have an odd habit of… well, bouncing when they hit the ground. Or rolling like a while. Given that most nests are found in the wilderness, a bad bounce through brush and/or down a hill can make it damn near impossible to actually find these nest, so you should be cautious when shooting them down and try to do so in a way that encourages the stricken nerst to land on flat ground, if at all possible.
