Mark of the Brotherhood is a task that can be found in Kuttenberg that can be found within the Kuttenberg Region, and can be accessed once you’ve completed the side quest Ars Dimicatoria. It’ll require you to find and repair the Swordfighting Guilds Longsword. Read on to find out where you need to go and what you get for completing the quest.

Starting the Mark of the Brotherhood Task¶

If you have completed Ars Dimicatoria already then return to the Swordfighting Guild which can be found in the southwest portion of Kuttenberg and speak with Menhard van Frankfurt for a follow-up quest which involves you reacquiring the Guild Sword. Head to the Butcher Store to the north of the Kuttenberg Town Hall Fast Travel and question Emmeram to learn that the sword is broken and thrown into a rubbish heap.

Dig up the Guild Sword from the Rubbish Heap¶

Make your way over to the Rubbish Heap which can be found on the southernmost side of the city or to the northeast of Kuttenberg Underground and you’ll spot three fairly obvious patches of mud which can be dug up, but we recommend dealing with the dogs beforehand as they’ll try to attack you. The rubbish heap doesn’t contain any traces of the Guild Sword which means Emmeram has tricked you so head back to his store and choose the following dialogue option You’re starting to infuriate me to force him to hand it over.

Head back to the Swordfighting Guild and show Menhard the now broken Guild Sword and he’ll request that you attempt to reforge it. Make your way over to any of the two Blacksmiths in the center of the city and purchase some Fastening Material and Toledo Steel from the Blacksmith and begin the forging process. Build up the temperature of the workpiece within the furnace until it is a bright straw yellow and then go to the Anvil by pressing X/A/E and hit the workpiece with the hammer while making sure you’re getting a big spark each time.

Mark of the Brotherhood Task Rewards¶

With the rebuilt Guild Longsword in your possession, head back and deliver it to Menhard to bring the quest to a close and you’ll be rewarded with 60 Groschen.
