Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (4k)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a historical action role-playing game released on February 4, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver, this sequel builds upon the foundation of the original 2018 game. Set in medieval Bohemia in the year 1403, it places players in a vast open world filled with rich historical details and an engaging narrative. The game received widespread praise, selling over a million copies within its first day and earning strong reviews for its deep role-playing mechanics and immersive storytelling.
In this first-person RPG, players control Henry of Skalitz, a blacksmith’s son-turned-knight, as he navigates war-torn Bohemia. Unlike the first game, where Henry started as an inexperienced fighter, he now possesses refined skills, making for a more dynamic and engaging combat experience. The sequel introduces new weapons, such as crossbows and early firearms, and expands upon the first game’s choice-driven dialogue system. New mechanics include the ability to fire a crossbow while riding a horse, and additional dialogue skills such as Coercion and Dominate, allowing for even deeper player interactions.
The game world is twice the size of its predecessor, split between two major regions: the scenic Bohemian Paradise and the bustling medieval city of Kutná Hora (Kuttenberg). This setting is filled with historically accurate architecture, communities, and conflicts, bringing players into an authentic 15th-century world. The narrative follows Henry as he embarks on a mission to uncover shifting allegiances and fight against the invading forces of King Sigismund of Hungary. Alongside his companion, the nobleman Hans Capon, Henry faces intense battles, political intrigue, and personal vendettas that shape the course of his journey.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is known for its complex decision-making, where player choices impact the story and how NPCs react. The game’s highly detailed script—containing over 2.2 million words—adds depth to its branching storylines, offering multiple ways to complete quests. Whether engaging in sword combat, negotiating with nobles, or crafting weapons as a blacksmith, the game allows players to shape Henry’s fate in meaningful ways. The inclusion of five hours of cinematic cutscenes ensures a narrative-driven experience that remains accessible to both returning and new players.
With its visually stunning world, improved combat mechanics, and rich storytelling, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has cemented itself as one of the most ambitious historical RPGs of recent years. Post-launch content, including additional story expansions and gameplay features, ensures that players will have even more to experience in the months ahead. Whether you’re a fan of historical realism or deep role-playing experiences, this game offers an immersive adventure set in a turbulent medieval world where every decision matters.
While the first eight hours of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are very story-set-up and tutorial-heavy, I’m stunned by how well everything works. The world is as gorgeous as ever and the depth of the mechanics make for an RPG that’s more captivating than any I’ve played for years. The story is a little inconsequential so far, but the quality of the writing means I’m convinced it’ll be more expansive in no time. My time in Henry’s shoes will be long, but I’m excited to see where I’m taken along the way.
