The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Find the Apapes Lightroot in Tears of the Kingdom

By
Scott Peers

The Apapes Lightroot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the more difficult Lightroots to find in the game. This is because the entrance to the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm is incredibly well hidden on the Surface map, but we’ll show you exactly where to find it on this page.

Where to Find the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm in Zelda TotK

The easiest way to reach the "Apapes Lightroot" iconApapes Lightroot for most players will be to descend to it from the "Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm" iconHyrule Castle Moat East Chasm, which is located northeast of "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing, or directly east from Hyrule Castle. Here you’ll find a point (Map Marker) on the cliff edge from which you can jump to reach a small cave which is also known as the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm.

Once inside, loot the few resources including the "Giant Brightbloom Seed" iconGiant Brightbloom Seeds (which will be handy in the Depths if you’re running low), then jump down into the chasm and be ready to use the "Paraglider" iconParaglider as you approach the bottom. There’s a "Blue-White Frox" iconBlue-White Frox at the bottom of this chasm which you’ll want to avoid, so keep in mind that it can jump quite high to attack you if you try to fly above it!

Once you’re at the bottom of the chasm and ideally on the small platform mentioned in the tip above, you can take a photo of the Blue-White Frox to add it to your Hyrule Compendium if you haven’t already done so, drop a "Brightbloom Seed" iconBrightbloom Seed on the ground and hit it to create some light in your vicinity, then look to the north to see the Apapes Lightroot. If you’re on top of the platform you should be able to see it clearly, but if you landed on the very bottom of the Depths you can still find it if you head immediately north.

Location of the Apapes Lightroot in the Depths

As mentioned above, the easiest way to reach the Apapes Lightroot once you’ve descended down the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm entrance to the Depths is to turn immediately north, then paraglide down to it if you landed on the platform. You should be able to see the faint glow of the lightroot from here. If you’re still struggling to locate it, you can see the video below for a step by step guide from the surface to the lightroot.
