The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Use Zonai Sled Devices in Tears of the Kingdom

By
Nathan Garvin

There are numerous Zonai devices in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and while you’ll be introduced to several of them during the tutorial portion of the game (Great Sky Island) there are many more that won’t be quite so formally introduced. You may stumble across them in Zonai ruins (especially sky islands), shrines, or just out in the wilderness, where it may take some trial and error to figure out how to use them properly. This page will discuss the Stake Zonai device in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

(1 of 4) On their own, Zonai Sleds are capable of little more than sliding down slopes or sailing where the current takes them.

How to Use Zonai Sleds

On their own, Zonai sled devices aren’t all that dynamic, basically being little more than somewhat aerodynamic slabs that can be used as sleds or boats. Unlike [Zonai Wings] they’re not capable of gliding around in the air, but they’re better, more stable platforms on sand or water than simply using slabs of wood.

They’re featured in ["Mayatat Shrine" iconMayatat Shrine], aptly titled “A Sliding Device”, where you’ll get to see both the limitations and potential of sleds. In the first puzzle, you’ll find some sleds running down a slope, which, without modification, is about the most sleds are capable of. If you don’t have a means of powering a sled they’re pretty much restricted to moving where the current or gravity will take them, which if you want to slide down a slope or go down a straight river is fine. The second puzzle, however, features [Zonai Fans] and [Zonai Steering Sticks], which you can attach to a sled to give it propulsion and a means of steering. Suddenly the sled goes from being a stable but lifeless platform to a fully functional boat capable of maneuvering with speed around obstacles.

Where to Get Sled Zonai Capsules

Below, you’ll find a list of Zonai device dispensers where you could obtain some sled Zonai devices. Each dispenser is unique and contains different devices, so you’ll need to go to specific ones if you want to obtain certain Zonai devices. You can also find Zonai device capsules in chests.
