How to Complete In-isa Shrine

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to complete "In-isa Shrine" iconIn-isa Shrine, which is the second shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK). This shrine is found on the Great Sky Island.

How to Find the Second Shrine: In-isa Shrine

On Great Sky Island, In-isa Shrine is the second recommended shrine that you’ll want to go to during this tutorial area. The shrine is found to the south of "Ukouh Shrine" iconUkouh Shrine. We have a super detailed step-by-step guide on how to reach the second shrine, or you can follow the quick summary below:

  1. Take the spiral stairs down and cross the river.
  2. Make a hook and platform construct to take the rail down to the lower island.
  3. Build a bridge across to the next island.
  4. Locate the large lake to the south.
  5. Make a raft to cross the lake and you’ll find the shrine atop the hill!

How to Use Fuse

When you enter the shrine, "Rauru" iconRauru will teach you a second ability: "Fuse" iconFuse. Fuse can be used to attach different things to a weapon or shield of your choice (needs to be something that hasn’t already been fused). These fuses can enhance your weapon with different properties depending on the item you attach to it. You can undo the fusion but it will destroy the item you’ve attached, but luckily you’ll retain the weapon!

Fuse is the second ability that Rauru will teach you.

In-isa Shrine: Boulder Fuse Puzzle

All the puzzles in this shrine will relate to the Fuse ability. Head further into the shrine and you’ll find some boulders and a Rusty sword. Equip the sword (or any other unfused weapon) and activate the Fuse ability. Select the boulder and it’ll fuse to your weapon of choice. Boulder fused weapons are very useful for smashing ore and breakable walls. You’ll need to use the boulder weapon to smash through the stone wall blocking your path.

Fuse your weapon with a nearby boulder (left), and then use your new weapon to smash up the wall ahead! (right)

Before continuing with the shrine’s puzzles, in this next room you’ll find a treasure chest atop a tall stone pillar at the back of the room. Smash the base of the rock pillar using your boulder weapon and it’ll drop the treasure chest. It contains x5 "Arrow" iconArrows.

In-isa Shrine: Fire Fruit Puzzle

After grabbing your loot, head down the corridor to the left, where you’ll find two rows of fire fruit trees. Pick some of the fire fruit then equip your bow. With your bow drawn, press the up button on the D-pad Joy-Con-DPad-Up to open up your inventory of miscellaneous things and scroll to find the fire fruit and select to fuse it with your bow. Aim your new super fiery bow at the leaves on the top portion of the wall ahead. This fire will burn the leaves and the wooden shelf, causing the chest to fall. You can then loot this chest for a "Small Key" iconSmall Key. Before you leave this area, make sure to pick all the "Fire Fruit" iconFire Fruit - they’ll be handy later on!

(1 of 2) Use the fruit to fire up your arrows

Use the fruit to fire up your arrows (left), then shoot it at the leaves above to drop the chest. (right)

This key can be used to open up the door that’s found back in the main area of this room.

In-isa Shrine: How to Defeat the Captain Construct

Once unlocked, pass through the door into the final puzzle room of the shrine. In this area, you’ll need to fight a "Captain Construct" iconCaptain Construct I who also has the Fuse ability! He’ll use a nearby Boulder to fuse to his weapon, making it stronger and harder hitting! Before you head into melee combat, you can equip your bow and use a Fire fruit to make your arrows fiery again. This time, shoot the fire at the leaves on the ground. This will really damage the Captain Construct I and make him primed and ready for your melee attacks! If you’d prefer not to engage in close combat, you can stay away from him and use your bow from afar.

(1 of 3) The Captain Construct has his own Fuse tricks up his sleeve!

Once he’s defeated, pick up his loot (including an new bow weapon) and then equip your boulder weapon to smash through the stone wall blocking your way to the end of the shrine. Interact with the statues to claim your "Light of Blessing" iconLight of Blessing.
