The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Team Cece or Team Reede?

By
Jessica Dillon

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom has several longer questlines. Some of which feature locations that Breath of The Wild players will be familiar with. Hateno Village has changed over the years and is split between two factions. Links’ goal is to help the village decide on a new leader and the direction it wants to go in, with one of your first tasks being handing out Hylian Mushrooms for Cece. The guide below goes over who to give the Hylian Mushrooms to in Hateno Village and where to find them in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.

Speak with Cece in the clothing shop to start Team Cece or Team Reede.

Hateno Village Questline

There are a total of six side adventures and one side quest that are part of this quest line. Below are links to each page so that you can see the outcome of the mayoral election for yourself.

How to Start The Hateno Mayoral Elections

Once you reach Hateno Village, you will want to head to the clothing shop, which can be found down from the Inn across from the General Store. There should be three NPCs dressed in Mushroom print clothing out front. Interact with them, and after a short dialogue, they will leave, allowing you to go into the Hateno clothing shop. Inside, you will find Cece, and soon Mayor Reede will break in to start arguing with her, making Cece declare a new mayoral election. Speak with her after Reede leaves to start the Hateno election questline and get the first quest, Team Cece or Team Reede.

Who to Give Hylian Mushrooms to in Hateno

Cece will give you eight Hylian Mushrooms to give out in Hateno. You are looking to give them to adult villagers who aren’t wearing one of her mushroom hats. Most all of these will be farmers, with the exclusion of the Inn owner’s husband. Here are the names of the NPCs you are looking for and where they are typically found. Keep in mind that they move around throughout the day, making some of them a bit harder to locate.

  • Uma: Can be found at the baron farm below the Hateno School.
  • Leop: Can be found wandering near the shops in the center of town, usually around the bulletin board..
  • Tamana: In the "Hylian Tomato" iconHylian Tomato Field near the Hateno South Well entrance.
  • Medda: Cleaning in front of the inn at night.
  • Worten: At the Inn up from the shops, next to Mayor Reede’s house he works the desk during the day and is on the porch at night.
  • Tokk: At the Hateno Farm at the top of the village at night and earily morning, during the day he hovers around the research lab.
  • Dantz: At The Hateno Farm, he stands out by the stables watching the cows.
  • Koyin: At The Hateno Farm, she is always at the dock in the cow field.

You will need to speak with all of these NPCs and give them each a "Hylian Shroom" iconHylian Shroom. During this, you will also pick up the next quest in this line, A Letter to Koyin. You can either go ahead and complete it now or finish up giving out the Hylian Shrooms and report back to Cece first. Cece will grant you a Big "Hearty Truffle" iconHearty Truffle for your trouble. On your way out of the shop, speak with Sophie as you will need to grab the Cece’s Secret quest.

(1 of 7) Dantz cares for the cows at the Hateno farm.
