The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Heroines' Secret

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are a number of Side Quests to be found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, spread out in various parts of the world. One side quest will bring you to Gerudo Town, where a Gerudo named "Rotana" iconRotana is researching the heroines in the Gerudo legends, but seems to be stuck on her findings thus far.

!Rotana is an archaeologist researching the heroines of the Gerudo tribe

Where to Start The Heroines’ Secret in Tears of the Kingdom

When you first arrive in the Gerudo region, you will see that there is a sand shroud that is covering up a large portion of it, including the town. This is part of the main story, and you will need to navigate through the shroud to get to !Gerudo Town. The town is inhabitable, though, and all of the denizens are located underground, in the Gerudo Shelter. To get there, head to the throne room in town, then use "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand to remove the covering behind the throne, allowing you to drop down the hole that’s revealed.

After some story bits, you will be free to explore the !Gerudo Shelter. In the main room of the shelter, look for the NPC by the one wall, who will have some kind of orb at her feet. This is Rotana, so speak to her to start the side quest. She is researching the heroines in Gerudo lore and seems to have come across some stelae that mentions a possible eighth heroine. She wants your help in finding more of these monuments, and you do that by taking pictures and showing her the photos. If you don’t have the "Camera" iconCamera, make sure to visit the How to Get the Camera page for more info.

Where to Find All Stelae for The Heroines’ Secret in Tears of the Kingdom

Thankfully, you don’t have to go far to find all four of the "Stelae" iconStelae, as they are all located in the shelter. As mentioned, you can do this before finishing the Lightning Temple, so you don’t need to do that whole thing. Remember that you need to have this quest logged for the pictures of the Stelae to count. Whenever you have the stele in frame, you should see the red quest marker towards the upper right, next to the name of the item.

First Stelae Location

(1 of 2) Break this rock wall to find the first stele

Break this rock wall to find the first stele (left), Make sure you see the red marker in the upper right when you take the picture (right)

From where you talk to Rotana, head through the large opening right next to her, then look off to the side to see some breakable rocks. Using either a "Bomb Flower" iconBomb Flower or a hammer-like weapon, break the rocks and you will see the stele behind it. Snap a picture of it to add it to your album.

Second Stelae Location

(1 of 3) You will find the second stele in this hallway, but it’s broken

This one is in one of the hallways, but when you look at it, you will see a piece is broken off of it. Right in front of the broken stelae, there is a pile of sand and if you use Ultrahand, you will see there is something in the sand. You can grab onto the little piece sticking out of the sand with Ultrahand, or get some kind of fan (either the Zonai Fan or using the "Korok Frond" iconKorok Frond attached to a weapon) to blow away the sand. Either way, that is the broken piece of the stele, so rotate it until you can place it with the broken portion, then snap a picture of it.

Third Stelae Location

(1 of 4) Head through this doorway next to the jail

The third one will be located in the jail, although you cannot get inside at all, unless you break the rules. However, there is actually a way to get inside, so start by passing through the opening right next to the jail cell. This will lead downstairs, to a room with a bunch of shelves. If you look closely at the one shelf on the ground, there will be some vases/bottles blocking an opening. Break them with a weapon, then crawl through the opening. You will now be directly underneath the jail cell, so use "Ascend" iconAscend to get inside, where you’ll find the stele along the one wall. Interact with the door to get out of the room.

Fourth Stelae Location

The final one on this list is located in the classroom. If you are doing this prior to completing the !Lightning Temple, then you will be unable to enter the classroom during the day, as the instructor is teaching kids. So, you will need to go into the classroom in the late afternoon/at night. Once in there, stand on the side with the dummies, then look towards the entrance to see that this stele is in two pieces. You’ll need to move around enough, so that the two pieces are together, then snap a picture when you see the red icon.

(1 of 3) You can’t enter the classroom during the day

Upon having all four pictures of the stelae in your album, return to Rotana and show all of the pictures to her. For a reward, not only will she let you use the orb anyway you want, but she will also give you a "Silver Rupee" iconSilver Rupee.
