In Tears of the Kingdom, the shrines are taken to a new level thanks to Link’s new abilities. One shrine in particular that not only tests the mind, but also Ultrahand, is the Kyokugon Shrine. However, while the puzzle in itself is enough work, getting to its location is also a tricky task, making this a double-headed brainteaser.
Below, we’ll detail exactly how to get to the shrine as well as the full solution to the puzzle that is within. Also, because we’re feeling generous, we’ll run you through how to access the secret chest that you can get at the end of the shrine.
Kyokugon Shrine Location in Tears of the Kingdom¶
The journey to the Kyokugon Shrine begins north of the Forest of Spirits in the Great Plateau, at the entrance to the Great Plateau Foothill Cave. However, it’s not as straightforward as simply walking in.
The path to the shrine is obstructed by numerous rocks, necessitating you to come prepared with rock-breaking weapons meaning Stone Hammers are ideal for this task, providing you with the ability to clear the path.
Once your arsenal is ready, head into the Great Plateau Foothill Cave. Through the rocky path, you’ll find the entrance to the Kyokugon Shrine nestled deep within.
This is a pretty unconvential spot to find a shrine but like others in the game, these are hidden away from plain sight in order for you to do a little exploring if you want that 100% completion.
How to Complete Kyokugon Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Once you’ve made it to the shrine, its now time to take on the challenge. This one is named Alignment Of The Circles and at first glance, the interior of the Kyokugon Shrine may seem deceptively simple, but it can become frustrating if you’re not looking at your surroundings.
Your task is to essentially put four balls into four holes, but the solution as to which holes you need to put them into isn’t made abundantly clear.
The simplest way to debunk this puzzle is to look at the ceiling of the shrine where there are four green markers. These markers correspond to the correct positions for the balls to go in their corresponding bowls.
Two of these markers are located on the main floor of the shrine, and the other two can be found up the stairs. By placing the balls in the holes using Ultrahand beneath their respective markers, you will unlock the main door leading further into the shrine.
Here is the solution if you are getting a bit stuck:
But like the others in the game, there’s more to the shrine - a secret chest. After completing the above puzzle, to the right of the main door you go through is a secret chest. Obtaining this treasure requires a bit of ingenuity and the use of your Ultrahand ability once more in similar fashion to what you have just done.
However, as you will see, there is no hole to put the ball into, probably leaving you scratching your head. If you look to the ceiling again, there is another green marker, similar to the ones used to solve the main puzzle. The trick here is that you need to create a new hole for the ball by using Ultrahand to pull a tile out of the ground, creating the necessary hole directly under the green marker.
Once the platform is out, place the ball in the hole and this will finally unlock the secret chest, rewarding you with the treasures are contained within.
