The quest chain for the election in Hateno Village can get a bit complicated. You have to find multiple quests and complete them to reach the end. One quest, A New Signature Food, can be particularly frustrating as it gives you vague clues about what food Mayor Reede wants you to bring him. Hateno Mayoral Election Quests¶

A New Signature Food is one of six different side adventures in Hateno village. Below are the quests that relate to A New Signature Recipe, the last two on the list are locked until you are ready for the election.

• Reede’s Secret
• Cece’s Secret
• The Mayoral Election
• Homegrown in Hateno

Where to Get The Pungent Food For Mayor Reede in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom¶

After Cece declares that she is running for mayor, go into Mayor Reede’s house. Reede will tell you that he has a plan to sway the village in his favor, Link simply needs to find a food from his childhood. The only clues he gives you though is that it was a Hateno Village specialty that is pungent and developed by his grandfather and a friend. To complete A New Signature Food, you must go up to the Hateno Farm, find Koyin on the farm’s pond dock, and complete A Letter to Koyin.

After this is done, take the piece of Hateno Cheese Koyin gives you back to Mayor Reede. Keep in mind that if it’s night time, he will lock himself in the shed behind his house until 5 am. Once you speak to him while holding the cheese, you simply need to select the dialogue option to tell him about it, and the quest will wrap itself up. Before you run off, though, find Mayor Reede’s wife, Clavia, to start one of the next quests in the chain, Reede’s Secret.
