The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Complete Sinakawak Shrine

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to complete "Sinakawak Shrine" iconSinakawak Shrine, which can be found in "Central Hyrule" iconCentral Hyrule Region in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find Sinakawak Shrine

This Shrine (map marker) is found right behind New Serenne Stables, which can be found in the North Hyrule Plain region in Central Hyrule. To get to this area, you can follow the path across Carok Bridge heading northwest from the "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing area.

Sinakawak Shrine: How to Use the Balloon Devices

This shrine could well be your first encounter with Balloon zonai device - they act like hot air balloons and to float they need a source of heat. In this first room you’ll see a balloon floating above a pillar with a flame on top of it. There are a couple of ways you can use heat with these balloons.

(1 of 3) First attach the fire pillar to the plank of wood.

The first method would be to place one of the fire pillars on a plank of wood using "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand. Then, attach the balloon directly onto the fire pillar. This feels like the safest and most fool proof option. The second method would be to attach the balloon directly to the plank of wood, and then equip a torch (they give you one nearby) and light it on the fire pillar, then use the flame from the torch to propel the balloon upwards. This takes less ultrahand steps but you do run the risk of accidentally putting your torch away whilst mid-air so just be careful! Use your balloon device to float up the edge of the wall to the area above!

In this next part of the shrine, you’ll need to use a balloon device to open up the door in front. Place the hot air balloon directly in front of the door. Then grab a fire pillar and use it to heat up the balloon and cause it to rise. It’ll hit a pressure plate above the door, causing it to open!

(1 of 2) You’ll need to hit this pressure plate to open the door

You’ll need to hit this pressure plate to open the door (left), use a balloon and fire to get it to reach the plate! (right)

When you progress through the door you may get a little overwhelmed by the size of the room! But fear not, all you’ll need to do is head over to the other side of the room and drop down to find a small boulder between four fire pillars.

Pick up the small boulder using ultrahand and attach it in the small basket bit of the balloon device. Then, you can either just attach the balloon and boulder to a fire pillar and send it up on its own, or you can attach it to a plank of wood and head up to the upper level with the boulder! If you do the first option, you’ll be able to take the ladder to the upper paths to grab the boulder.

Detach the small boulder from the balloon contraption and place it in the small hole in the ground in front of the door. This will open it up and you’ll be able to head through to the end of the shrine! But before you do that you can complete the extra puzzle to obtain some treasure!

Attach the small boulder to the balloon and then place a fire pillar beneath it to propel it into the sky.

Sinakawak Shrine: How to Get the Treasure Chest

Opening the door to the room with the treasure is a little trickier than opening the door. To open the treasure chest room door, you need to get the huge boulder on the top level and place it in the huge hole in front of the door.

Sinakawak Shrine: Big Boulder Puzzle Solution

One balloon device is not enough to get the boulder up to the upper level - you’re gonna need two. The problem you’ll come into though is that the spherical boulder makes it tough to attach things to it without it falling over. To negate this, attach the ball to the wooden plank you’re provided on the other side of the room. This will stop the ball from rolling over when you attach stuff to it!

Next, attach two of the flame emitter devices to the top of the boulder - try to space them as far as possible away from each other whilst still remaining upright. Next, attach one balloon to each of the flame emitters - if they don’t fit upright next to each other, rotate one of them slightly and it’ll still work. Your ball should now float upwards to the upper levels of the room!

(1 of 2) Attach the boulder to a plank of wood, then place the two flame emitters on the top of the boulder

Attach the boulder to a plank of wood, then place the two flame emitters on the top of the boulder (left), then place two balloons atop the fire emitters to lift the boulder up. (right)

There are likely other methods you can use to get the big boulder up to the upper levels, and we encourage you to try out different ways other than our method if you like to be creative!

Once the ball is up on the upper level, you can detach it from your balloon contraption and walk across the paths to the treasure chest room, where you can drop the ball in the hole. There, you can access the treasure chest and claim your "Opal" iconOpal reward - quite a lot of work for just one opal!

(1 of 2) Head up the ladder and grab the boulder by detaching it from the flying contraption

Head up the ladder and grab the boulder by detaching it from the flying contraption (left), then use it to open the treasure chest room! (right)

After looting the treasure, you can head through the other door to the end of the shrine to earn your "Light of Blessing" iconLight of Blessing.
