How to Beat Hinox in Tears of the Kingdom

There are quite a few different boss enemies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom. While some of them are easy to defeat, others will test your patience. The "Hinox" iconHinox is a well-known enemy, that also appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. It’s large, and has powerful hits making it troublesome to deal with, especially in the early game. The guide below goes over where to find a Hinox, how to defeat them, and what items they drop.

Where to Find a Hinox

Hinox are rather large, so spotting them is easy if you are in the right area. With that being said, Tears of The Kingdom has a huge map and finding any enemy can be rather tough if you don’t know where to look. One of the easiest places to find a Hinox is in Hyrule Ridge, sleeping in the middle of Carok Bridge. Click here for an exact location of where this Hinox spawns. Like most enemies, the Hinox will reappear everytime there is a blood moon, so make sure to farm them as needed.

How to Defeat a Hinox

While this may seem like a tough enemy due to it’s size, attack, and large health bar, it can be easy to control a Hinox. You should be cautiaus as they use tree trunks as weapons. This can easily one-shot a new player, making them one of the strongest enemies in game. Luckily, they have an extremelly slow movement speed, allowing you to get away from them quickly. Even without a lot of staminia on your you should be able to safetly outrun a Hinox. Be aware that there are different levels of Hinox, you can tell how powerful one is by the coloring. Red is the least powerful and white is the most powerful.

The enemy has a major weakness in it’s eye, all you need to do is shoot an arrow into it while it’s open, and they will become vunerable. Be advised that a Hinox want stay down for long, so get your close-range hits in while you can and then move back to a safe distance where you can hit it’s eye once more. You can do this as many times in a row as you need. Here’s what items drop from a defeated Hinox.

In addition to this, a Hinox can drop elixers and cooking ingridients such as meat when defeated. The monster drops can be sold for a profit or used to upgrade armor sets.
