The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A Picture for the Closed Stable I Walkthrough

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are numerous side quests to be found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of these side quests will involve your camera and start at the various stables you can visit. These will require you to take a picture of a specific thing, in order to complete them. One such side quest is A Picture for the Closed Stable I, which this page will talk about in its entirety.

Check out the left empty picture frame at Gerudo Canyon Stable for this quest.

Where to Start A Picture for the Closed Stable I in Tears of the Kingdom

Before you can start this side quest, you will need to have completed Piaffe, Packed Away, which is a very short quest found at the Gerudo Canyon Stable. At the end of that quest, "Piaffe" iconPiaffe will actually point out the two blank picture frames on the wall. Inspect the one on the left, when facing the both of them, to start this quest. Note that you will need the "Camera" iconCamera for this quest, which you unlock during the "Camera Work in the Depths" iconCamera Work in the Depths main quest, at "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing.

How to Complete A Picture for the Closed Stable I in Tears of the Kingdom

Piaffe mentions that filling the frames with some pictures will help alleviate the feeling about having to close the stable down. For the first frame, he heard from a Rito traveler about Spectacle Rock, which is located to the southeast of the stable. While the Rito was flying above the landmark, he looked down and saw that !Spectacle Rock was smiling. So, that is the picture that Piaffe wants you to get for him. You won’t have to fight anything for this quest, nor get any items; he just wants a simple picture.

(1 of 3) You’re aiming for this island after launching from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.

Of course, the picture isn’t going to be that simple, though, as he pretty much gave you the clues on how to take it. The most important clue, besides the location, is the top-down view mentioned, which likely means you need to be in the sky. To get to the necessary spot, travel to the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and launch yourself into the sky. You’re going to be aiming for the cross-shaped island to the east, which is where the Rakashog Shrine is located. So, if you already have that shrine unlocked, you can just fast travel to it.

Once you’re on the island, head to the end of the southwestern “arm” that is sticking out on the western side. Get out your camera and go to the edge (you can’t fall when in the process of taking a picture), making sure you see the red quest icon, as that means it will count. After taking the picture, return to the stable and inspect the frame to trigger Piaffe to speak to you about it again. You can then show your picture to him and complete the quest. Your reward will be one Pony Point and a Chilly Mushroom Risotto.
