There are quite a few quests that you can pick up around Gerudo, many of which will keep you entertained by introducing fun characters such as Rahdo. To get to know him, you simply need to do both his quests, Cold-Endurance Contest! and Heat-Endurance Contest! The guide below goes over where to find Rahdo and how to beat both of his competitions.
How to Pass The Cold-Endurance Contest and The Head-Endurance Contest¶
This is a two-part quest where you must fend off the elements one after another. The first of the two quests, The Cold-Endurance Contest, can be started by going to the top of Mount Granajh in the Gerudo Region. You can use the Kitawak Shrine to get there quickly. You will see smoke coming from the top of the mountain, and once you climb up to the peak you will see Rahdo. Once you speak with him he will challenge you to a contest, this starts the Cold-Endurance Contest! You do need to have 50 Rupees on you to start the contest. There are some rules that you have to follow to win it.
- You can’t wear any armor, it will automatically be taken off at the start of the contest.
- You can’t pre-build, anything you build before the contest starts will disappear.
- You must stay on the pillar from 8:30 pm to 4 am.
At first, being in cold weather may seem daunting, but there is an easy trick to beat the contest. Simply fuse a Ruby onto your active shield to keep yourself warm throughout the night. If you don’t have a Ruby, then throw down some wood on the pillar and use flint to light it. After this is done, just leave your control alone for the next seven minutes until Rahdo finally gives up. He will give you a Silver Rupee for winning.
Speak with Rahdo again to start the next quest, The Heat-Endurance Contest! For this quest, you will need to give Rahdo 150 Rupees. This has the same rules as the first, but you will now be braving the heat during the day. The rules are the same, the only thing that changes is having to wait from 8 am to 4 pm.
Like with the Cold-Endurance Contest, you can use a shield to fuse a Sapphire to. This will keep Link cold during the day. You can also try your hand at using the nearby rocks to make a shelter using Ultrahand, but this is quite a bit more effort. After you’re set up, just set your controller down and wait for seven minutes to pass. Rahdo will surrender to you and give you a Gold Rupee. After this, Rahdo announces he needs to do more training, packs his tent up and disappears.
