The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Flute Player's Plan

By
Jessica Dillon

If you are in Faron, you may come across a flute player named "Pyper" iconPyper. Pyper is in need of a rather annoying item to collect "Sunset Firefly" iconSunset Firefly. Sunset Firefly can only be collected during the night, and you have to know where to look if you want to find them. The guide below goes over where to find where to get Sunset Fireflies and how to catch them before they fly away from you.

Starting the Flute Players Plan in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.

Who is Pyper?

Pyper is the flute player for the Stable Trotters and, like most members of the group, has gone off on his own. You will need to go to the Highland Stable in the Faron Grasslands. Pyper is in a large tree to the left of the Stable, playing his flute. You will need to climb up the tree and speak with him to get him to come down. When you do, he will tell you that he needs to find ten Sunset Fireflies.

He is part of the Stable Trotters and needed to awaken The Great Fairy Kaysa. There are four Great "Fairy" iconFairy Fountains that you will need to visit while playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom. Great Fairies can help you upgrade your armor to withstand blows from stronger enemies.

Sunset Firefly Locations in Tears of the Kingdom

You can catch Sunset Firefly in forests with puddles of water that they can gather around. Some notable locations where Sunset Firefly spawn can be found in the chart below.

How to Catch Sunset Fireflies

If you don’t already have Sunset Fireflies, then you will need to follow the road north from Highland Stable into Faron Woods here. Sunset Fireflies will appear at night, as long as it’s not raining. They are a bit tricky to catch as you have to sneak up on them, and they will fly around sometimes, causing them to be just out of reach. You can find them near pulls of water, but be careful as there are several Octoroks around, Stakoblins, and "Keese" iconKeese. They can scare off the fireflies and will attack Link frequently in this area.

Once you have collected ten Sunset Fireflies, head back to Highland Stable and give them to Pyper. He will then ask you to bring over Hatie at night. You will find her sitting against the support beam in the middle of the stable. Tell her to follow you and walk over to Pyper. Afterward, he will show her a glowing tree and give Link a "Hearty Truffle" iconHearty Truffle before heading to Outskirt Stable.

(1 of 3) Pyper needs ten Sunset Fireflies.
