The Great Sky Island is the very first area you’ll be able explore in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Here you’ll be taught the basics, such as crafting rafts, cooking and how to use the new devices. This page will navigate you through the necessary steps to reaching the Ukouh Shrine.

You’ll regain control of Link in the Temple of Time.

How to Reach The Temple of Time¶

When you reawaken after the events at the cave with Zelda you’ll find yourself in the Room of Awakening. Your first objective is to reach the Temple. Simply, follow the linear path ahead whilst paying close attention to the instructions displayed on screen, as here you’ll learn the basic controls, such as Jumping. When you reach the exit you’ll find yourself extremely high up, so stand near the edge and press to dive into the water below.

From here, you’ll want to follow the path along to the north until you reach a fork in the path, then head along to the right to find another point where you can dive down to the next island below. There isn’t much to do right now, so continue heading north until you reach the Temple of Time. Work your way up the stairs and interact with the door and a short conversation with Rauru occurs. You’ll discover that you currently don’t have the required powers to enter, so you’ll have to hunt down and complete the following three shrines on the island - Ukouh Shrine, In-isa Shrine and the Gutanbac Shrine.

You can do these shrines in any order, but there is a recommended route which teaches you all the skills you need to explore the island. So, from the temple you’ll want to head down to the area on the right, then make your way across the river to reach the base of the shrine’s rock. Here you’ll want to take the spiral stairs up to the top. However, you’ll notice that the stairs are broken in certain places, so you’ll need to climb across the cliff to the next bit of the steps.

At the top you’ll want to interact with the seal to open up the entrance. Upon completing the shrine you’ll be able to use the ability to help you traverse the open world.
