The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Codgers' Quarrel

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are a number of Side Quests to be found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with a few available in Kakariko Village. If you head into the general shop on the western side, you will find the proprietor inside, named Trissa. She explains her problem and wants you to solve it.

Trissa in the one shop will give you this side quest

Where to Start Codgers’ Quarrel in Tears of the Kingdom

As mentioned above, you will be able to begin this side quest in !Kakariko Village, one of the few big towns in the game. There are two general shops marked on your map, which are right across from one another. The western one sells food items and is the one you want, so head inside and speak to Trissa. She mentions that the old fellas who stock the place are busy driving off monsters. They’ve went to the Ring Ruin that’s among the hills that lead west out of the village. Since they are busy, the store is running out of stock and they always butt heads, too.

Where to Find the Ring Ruin for Codgers’ Quarrel in Tears of the Kingdom

Before doing anything in Kakariko, you probably want to head up to Makasura Shrine and activate it, since that will set a fast travel option for you. It’s also a good idea to get to the higher elevations of Kakariko, which is what you want to do for this quest. From the entrance of the shrine, look southeast/east to spot a Zonai Dispenser device, so use the "Paraglider" iconParaglider to head over there. Follow the path southwest behind the device, sticking to the north of the mountain there.

Eventually, you should see some ruins up ahead, which is the Ring Ruin that Trissa mentioned. Approach the two NPCs standing there to see that they are arguing which is better for combat, offense or defense. The guy sitting on the ground is a researcher and mentions that he’s there to investigate the Ring Ruin, but there are monsters there. So, your course is set, as you’ll need to get rid of the monsters. Head to the ruins to find some "Bokoblin" iconBokoblins there, which are the only monsters. There will be three on the ground and one on top of the ruin, with two of them being archers.

Thankfully, you can lure the ground enemies underneath the ruins, so to avoid the one on top, but either way, the archers should be the first to go. Once the enemies on the ground are finished, you can find the one on top of the ruins and shoot it with an arrow. Note that there’s some rocks inside the one part of the ruins, which you can break with a bomb or hammer weapon, and is hiding a chest that contains a "Strong Zonaite Sword" iconStrong Zonaite Sword. There’s another chest by the campfire, which contains 5 "Giant Brightbloom Seed" iconGiant Brightbloom Seeds.

Return to the old men, who were amazed with your balanced approach to combat and run off to do other things. You can now go back to Trissa at the shop to report your success, finishing up the side quest. She will give you an "Endura Carrot" iconEndura Carrot as a reward. Also, "Swift Carrot" iconSwift Carrots will now be stocked in the shop.
