The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Misko's Cave of Chests

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are a number of Side Quests to be found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, spread out in various parts of the world. One side quest will have you hunting for some treasure that was hidden by a famous thief, Misko. This page will focus on the Misko’s Cave of Chests side quest.

Where to Start Misko’s Cave of Chests in Tears of the Kingdom

(1 of 2) The !Kisinona Shrine is right next to where you need to go

The !Kisinona Shrine is right next to where you need to go (left), Speak to the one NPC right outside the cave to begin the quest (right)

You will find this side quest at Cephla Lake, which is northwest of the Zora Domain, on the map. If you have the Foothill Stable, it will be just north of that. In fact, the Kisinona Shrine is very close to the location of his side quest, so you can use that as a point of reference, since it’s just on the other side of the hill from it. Look for the smoke coming from the campfire, where you’ll find two NPCs by the cave entrance. Prissen and Domidak, their names, are looking for the Misko’s treasure in the cave, but there is a huge number of chests inside, so they don’t know which one contains the treasure.

Correct Chest to Open for Misko’s Cave of Chests

If you listen to their dialog, you will get a clue on the best method to open the correct chest for this side quest. The brothers mention having the nose of a dog to be able to open the right chest, and there just happens to be a dog right by the campfire. Normally, you cannot have any direct interaction with the dogs in the game, but you do have the option to give them food. Just open your inventory, hover over a food item, then select the Hold option.

This places the item in your hands, where you will now have an option to drop them on the ground, once you return to the game. Note that you can give the dog any food items, but "Apple" iconApples can be the easiest to do, especially since there are two on a crate by the tent. Upon dropping the items on the ground by the dog, it will go over to them and consume the food. You will need a total of four food items here and you can place them all on the ground at the same time. Once the dog has managed to down the fourth food item, it will begin moving towards the inner portion of the nearby "Cephla Lake Cave" iconCephla Lake Cave.

(1 of 6) There are a large number of chests inside the cave

Follow the dog to the cave and wait for it to lay down in front of a chest, which is going to be the one you want to open. If the chest is stuck in the ground, use "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand to pull it out of the ground. Upon opening the chest, you will receive the "Ember Trousers" iconEmber Trousers. The NPCs should come inside and begrudgingly congratulate you on finding the right chest. They search the chest for any remaining treasure, but only find a “regular old bottle.” This side quest will now come to a conclusion, but if you inspect the bottle, you will get the side quest, "Misko's Treasure: The Fierce Deity" iconMisko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity.
