Once you turn on all the faucets in the Water Temple, you will unleash the cause of the muck, Mucktorok. This is an easy boss to take out when you learn his mechanics, but before that, you will be slowly moving around in a muck-covered arena, being attacked by a shark. The guide below goes over how to deal with the muck and defeat Mucktorok in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.
How to Defeat The Water Temple Boss Mucktorok¶
Mucktorok is a rather easy boss to beat once you get his tricks down. When he first enters battle, he will hide inside a shark made of muck and malice. The shark has a few different moves. He can swim quickly toward Link, shoot beams of muck, and cause a wave of muck to pulse out over the battlefield. Most of these can be dodged relatively easily by moving away from the attack or jumping over the muck. To injure Mucktorok, you will need to hit him with Sidon’s water. This will wash away the shark and reveal Mucktorok. Quickly hit him with your weapon as much as possible. He will get up and run away. You can chase him down or shoot him with an arrow to knock him back down for a short bit before he returns to the shark.
Once his health bar has reached the halfway point, he will change tactics. He now covers the field in muck, slowing Link down, so it’s harder to catch up to him and the shark. The shark will also spit out globs of muck. Clear away what you can, and hit the shark with water to reveal Mucktorok. When he gets up this time, he won’t run. Instead, he will quickly swim from muck pool to muck pool, making him hard to hit unless you have a well-timed arrow or can wash the muck he’s currently in away quickly. He still takes the same amount of damage when he’s exposed, so handle the muck he adds to the field and quickly take him out.
Once this is done, you will get a heart container, and Sidon will become a Sage. Zora’s Domain will clear up, and you will be transported back to the surface to go on your next adventure in Hyrule.
