The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Get Better Armor

By
Jessica Dillon

If you start venturing out further into Hyrule, you will quickly learn that even the armor your purchase from the clothing shops doesn’t hold up against enemies. While you can rely on your shield and well-timed attacks to an extent, not having good armor while facing large groups of enemies can be a major hindrance. The guide below goes over how to get stronger armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.

Unlocking a Great Fairy Fountain in Tears of The Kingdom.

How to Upgrade Your Armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom

If you want armor with a stronger rating, then your going to need to pay a visit to a Great Fairy Fountain. There are four sprinkled around the map, and to unlock them, you will need to do the various side adventures related to the music troupe. Once you have access to a Great Fairy, you can upgrade your armor, provided you have the needed monster materials and enough Rupees. You can check the materials and Rupee cost for each upgrade with the Great Fairy. Keep in mind that you can’t add special features like cold-resistance to the outfits. You can only make them tougher.

Not every piece of armor can be upgraded in Tears of The Kingdom, special items like Cece’s Hat won’t have an upgrade option, but you can see this when checking them at the Great Fairy. The Great Fairies will also have a limit to how much you can upgrade your armor at first, so make sure to unlock them all. This will allow you to level up pieces of armor to their max so that you can easily take on tougher enemies.
