There are plenty of side quests scattered around Hyrule to find. Some even start out in a whole other region than where the quest takes place. This is the case for Eldin’s Colossal Fossil. If you want to finish the fossil quest line though, then you will need to find Loone and pick this first quest up. The guide below shows you where to find !Loone and how to fix Eldin’s fossil in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.
Loone needs you to fix the Colossal Fossil’s Eye.
Where to Find The Colossal Fossil’s Eye¶
Eldin’s Colossal Fossil is part of a small quest line involving the character !Loone. While this is an Eldin quest, you won’t find !Loone hanging out around Death Mountain, instead you need to go to the region to the east, Akkala. She can be found standing near the entrance of the East Akkala Stable. Speak with her to start Eldin’s Colossal Fossil. For this quest, you will need to go to one of the northernmost parts of the map. The fossil can be found near the 
Mayak Shrine, and the area it’s in is called Eldin Great Skeleton.
Use the shrine if you have it unlocked to quickly make your way to the fossil. It’s massive and easy to spot from a distance so you shouldn’t get lost. You will find !Loone is standing near its head, but she will complain that one of its eyes is missing. Head inside the fossils head, here you should see a pile of rocks. You will need to use a few 
Bomb Flowers to free the fossilized eye from the pile. Once it’s freed, use 
Ultrahand to take it to the missing eye sockets and maneuver it to cause a cutscene to play, showing that it has locked back into place.

You should now speak with !Loone. She will notice that you fixed the fossil and give you a 
Purple Rupee for your trouble. After this, she will invite you to come with her to visit Herba. This will start the next quest in the chain, 
Hebra’s Colossal Fossil.
