The Tarrey Town Race Is On! Walkthrough - Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There is a plethora of side quests in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with a few of them being available at !Tarrey Town. You will find this place towards the northeastern corner of the map, and it is home to one of the more important services in the game, the !Break-a-Part Shop. You will also find a number of other things to do there, like The Tarrey Town Race Is On! side quest.

Fernison will offer a second side quest, after finishing Master the Vehicle Prototype.

Where to Start The Tarrey Town Race Is On! in Tears of the Kingdom

Before you can do anything, you will need to have finished another side quest in the same area, "Master the Vehicle Prototype" iconMaster the Vehicle Prototype. Once you have done this, head somewhere and rest to the next day, then return to Fernison and speak to her to see she has another side quest for you. Note that you could head on over to the South Akkala Stable she points out, should you need to find a place to rest. Fernison has set up a new course for test-driving vehicles, so they can’t wait to see you race it.

How to Complete The Tarrey Town Race Is On! in Tears of the Kingdom

So, there are a few more rules to this race than in the previous quest. To start, you have to finish within two minutes, as that is the best time for Tali, the taller Gerudo nearby. Also, you are able to use any vehicle you can build for it, as long as you use the Steering Stick on the table. There will be some parts nearby that you can use to build your vehicle, but you are also welcome to use anything in your inventory.

(1 of 4) There will be some parts off to the side you can use to build a vehicle.

The race isn’t much more difficult than the previous one, other than there being a lot more lights to drive through, though. You could try to build something fancy, and it’s entirely up to you, but the tried and true four wheels and a base is going to get the job done. The Big Wheels will offer more stability, while the Small Wheels will make you go faster. Whenever you attach the wheels, though, make sure they are all facing the correct way and direction. Once you have built your vehicle, attach the one !Steering Stick to it and you’ll see a prompt to start the race or not.

Other than the above, the rules are the exact same as in the previous race. You cannot let go of the steering stick, nor can you go too far off the course. There are a total of six lights for this course, excluding the final one back at the starting point. While you only have two minutes to complete the course, that’s more than enough time to actually finish, though. For completing the course within the time limit, Fernison will reward you with 3x "Zonai Charge" iconZonai Charges. You will also be done with the side quest.

(1 of 3) You will be offered an Expert Course after finishing the side quest.

Note that if you speak with Fernison after finishing, you will be able to do more races, although no more are tied to side quests. You will also be charged 10 Rupees per attempt, and the Expert Course is the same thing, except more lights. Finishing the Expert Course within the three minutes will reward you with a "Large Zonai Charge" iconLarge Zonai Charge. If you do it again and set a new record, then you’ll get another one.
