The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Find Arrows in Tears of the Kingdom

By
Nathan Garvin

While smacking enemies with whatever melee weapon you’ve fused together will probably be your primary means of defeating enemies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this does have a downside… namely it usually puts you within reach of the enemies. Sometimes it’s just easier, safer and more expedient to pick off enemies from afar, and if you want to do this without smashing up all your lovely weapons, you’ll need to use a bow. While peppering enemies with arrows is a fine way to cheese many encounters… well, arrows that connect with enemies are lost forever, and if you rely too heavily on ranged attacks, you may find yourself running low on arrows. To combat this, we’ll discuss how to find arrows in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

You can simply buy arrows from merchants, but this may not be the most economic approach.

How to Find Arrows in Tears of the Kingdom

Firing a bow uses ammunition, namely arrows, and while you can carry quite a hefty supply of them, getting that supply can be a bit tricky for new players. First, note that shooting an arrow doesn’t necessarily destroy it - hitting an enemy, however, does. If you miss, you can usually recover the spent arrow by searching for it, assuming it didn’t fly somewhere inaccessible. The same holds true for enemy arrows - if they miss you, look around. You may just find them embedded in the ground or a wall. Farming enemy archers - notoriously bad shots who don’t even attempt to track their shots - can be a reliable (if slow and somewhat dangerous), way to score arrows.

Defeating enemy archers also is a good way to gather arrows, as they’ll usually drop some when vanquished. You’ll usually only get one or two, but they can drop bundles of up to 5x "Arrow" iconArrows if you’re lucky.

Another way to get arrows is to simply buy arrows from merchants. The merchant at "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing will sell bundles of 5x Arrows for 20 Rupees… probably not the more economic way of going about things, but still, it’s an option.

You can also find Arrows in chests. Be sure to search Shrines and enemy camps for chests. Chests aren’t the most reliable source of arrows in this game, however, as they’re kind of one-time deals.

Finally, arguably the best source of arrows in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes from smashing crates. Crates will almost always yield one or two arrows, and these can spawn in stacks of five. Find several crates in some ruins and you’re almost guaranteed to walk out with a fair few arrows. Barrels can also contain arrows, but are somewhat more likely to yield other materials, like "Apple" iconApples, or to just be empty.

So keep an eye out for crates as you explore and give them a good smash with an axe or hammer and you’ll find yourself with more arrows you can panic-shoot at a mob of "Bokoblin" iconBokoblins you’ve unintentionally stumbled into!
